Do you enjoy Nepalese food? Do you have Nepalese friends? Today we opened two Little FREE SEED Libraries on San Pablo Ave. at Tashi Delek Cuisine and Himalayan Grocery. 100% of the collection is Nepali seed: hot peppers (khursani, - a little late to start this year), cilantro from Nepal (dhaniya, ), mustard from Nepal (tori, ), chuche karela (known as caigua in Peru), tree tomato (Raam Bail, , Tyammatar, - or tamarillo is Spanish). We are hoping that community members save and share seeds from their cultural heritage. If you have seeds to share, let us know. You can email us at [email protected]. We'd love to get your special seeds into the hands of others to steward them. To find other seed library locations go to RichmondGrowsSeeds.org or follow us on Instagram @RichmondGrows.

We offered 12 free classes on Absolute Beginner Gardening and Seed Saving in a Time of Crisis. Next year we anticipate the need and interest in growing food will continue. $1 provides 4 packets of seeds to the community. https://urbantilth.networkforgood.com//50421-richmond-grow. Donate today to h...elp us continue to meet this moment! Thanks to all of our community partners who hosted seed libraries: The Latina Center, Rich City Rides, Nevin Community Center, Shields-Reid Community Center, Arlington Market, Joe's Market, Rancho Market, La Loma Market, La Raza Market, Urban Tilth Greenway Garden and North Richmond Farm, Happy Lot Farm and Garden, and the Easter Hill United Methodist Church. Together we can plant seeds and grow a community! Peas and justice, Rebecca Newburn Co-Founder, Richmond Grows Seed Lending Library
We need people to grow seeds out for the benefit of the community. This summer the Richmond Grows Little FREE Seed Libraries distributed over 20,000 seed packets to residents. Most of this was commercially purchased. Next year, we need to offer locally grown seeds to build local resilience. If you've never saved seeds, you can do this! Sign up to grow a row of some vegetable crop to seed to be shared for the benefit of all, https://forms.gle/4eS2muBriSAPNrD49. Want to learn more about seed saving, visit http://RichmondGrowsSeeds.org or watch our Seed Saving in a Time of Crisis Class, https://youtu.be/0kaUjvz3slY.
