Today was a first for me as an instructor. My client wanted to try his brand new 5 wood and his shaft broke in half on his first swing. Yesterday I saw one of the most exciting finishes by Big Coop in the Palm Springs Open. He was in a 3 way tie for 1st going into round 2 at -2 under par. With 3 holes left in the final round Big Coop was 3 shots back. He ended up making Birdies on 16 and 17 to pull within 1 shot going into hole 18. The 18th was one of the toughest holes on the course where Big Coop finished with a par and the other boy made a bogey to finish in a tie for first at -5 under par for the tourname...nt and going into a Playoff. Big Coop ends up making a 15 foot putt for birdie for the win on the 2nd playoff hole. One of the best things Big Coop said, I was just playing golf and whatever happens...happens. This was your classic way of playing against Old Man Par and letting the result take care of itself. I juggle between Parent, Coach and in this tournament Caddy. There is nothing better for me as parent is to watch my kid compete, as a Coach I love how Big Coop is evolving as a player and as a Caddy it was awesome to be by his side to experience first hand what he is feeling in the moment and to lend a hand when he needed it.
