My family and I became business owner during the middle of 2008 without fully understanding what was coming, the Great Recession. Oh and did I mention I was 7months pregnant with my son Gabriel? I would sit inside @revolverhairstudio praying, hoping that people would walk through my doors. And than I would feel selfish for praying for my business when I knew so many people around me were loosing their homes(including us) and other businesses were closing.... I get the same guilty feeling when I start hoping that It can keep my business open during the middle of a #pandemic , knowing that there are so many people loosing their lives. I realize it’s ok to go through all your feelings, angry, sad, anxious and even happy to be alive. At the end I am thankful that I even got to open my doors at all, knowing that since March there’s businesses that never got to reopen, and human lives that would never be able to open their eyes again. All I can do is try to stay calm, don’t panic, encourage as many people as I can to do the right things. Stay home as much as possible, wear a mask, and wash your hands. Because of the Regional Stay at Home Order due the current ICU levels dropping to below 15% capacity, we were ordered to close again, Dec. 05 was our last day till they lift off the order. Let’s pray this gives the much needed relief to our Health Care workers. As soon as we are allowed to reopen, we will be contacting all previous appointments to reschedule.

The first time I worked at a #hairsalon I was 12, and yes I was doing the least glamorous jobs. I learned so much (some clients share a lotj/k). I gained so much respect for all the stylist in the salon, all the hard work, the never sitting down, 5 minute lunches, leaving work late, the art of communicating with all the clients in a customized way . I had many jobs in my life, but being an errand girl at a hair salon is the one I’m the most proud of.
