Over 2000 years ago, a king was born, not in the splendor and majesty of a castle; but in the squalor of a stable. Fine sheets, soft pillows and a luxurious crib were not what he was laid in. Instead he was laid in harsh straw and hay. His birth announcement was not proclaimed among the elites; it was announced by angels to poor shepherds. The KING born that day created everything, including us. Yet, on his birthday, he is often forgotten amongst all the trappings of Christmas. Everyone is giving presents, yet he is overlooked. In some circles, we can't even mention him. So, today take a moment and remember whose birthday it is. He is the greatest gift of all. He is God's gift of salvation for me and for you.
