General John A Logan was raised in Mitchell lodge #85 in Pinckneyville Illinois. He was a York Rite Mason and Templar in Chicago. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite there, and was elected to be coroneted a 33rd degree in 1886, but died before it could be conferred. (Memorial Day original known as decoration day) was officially declared on May 5 , 1868 by General Logan, in his roll as national commander of a relatively new fraternal group, The Grand Army of the Republic. It was first observed on May 30th at Arlington National Cemetery.

This Sunday, please help if you can. Food Drive Reseda Masonic Lodge, January 17th drive through food drive at Van Nuys Masonic 14750 Sherman Way Van Nuys, CA . From 9:30am to 11:30 for First Methodist Church of Reseda food bank. You may drop of any nonperishable food items. We will remove them from your trunk for you. The need is ever increasing so please help if you can. This is a drive in drop off event , please follow Covid standards of wearing a mask and maintaining 6’ distance. Thank you for your support !
