Little late for some Christmas colored barnwood but I just picked up this 1x12 siding down in Modesto. I’ve had a few people come by lately looking for barn red siding so here it is I hope everyone had a nice Christmas and a safe new year’s! I took some time off, for the holidays and after having been running around like crazy to try finish a bunch of builds last month. It may be a cold and wet January morning here in Sacramento, but lots to do still in the workshop and at the yard

Original 1950’s medicine cabinet. Measures 26x16 but the back part that goes into the wall is smaller, to fit between 16 o.c. studs. I get people looking for this every once in a while so here it is. DM for price

Anybody can use a 12 gallon electric water heater? It’s 120v, works fine. These are like $300 new. Looking for $50.

Random smalls available at the yard: Vintage Kodak photo postcards. 1950s medicine cabinet. Simplified furniture design book. 1935 California handwriting primer. There’s other stuff too, just sorting through the pile little by little. Let me know if anything catches your eye

These are pretty cool! Cannonball Jr. No. 1082 Door Hanger. Crazy thing is that this company, Cannonball, started in 1916 and based in Illinois, is still makes a modern version of this sliding barn door hardware. It is available. There are two door hangers and approximately 12’ of rail. Message me for details

Amazing restoration, with wax, on these lug box/fruit crates. Absolutely gorgeous! I keep telling people that these old crates clean up amazing but most people have no idea

I’ve posted these doors before but just had to share one more time. I built these a few months back for Nicole and Dan, a local design and build team here in Sacramento. They just finished converting their garage into this amazing entertainment space and a second floor apartment. They really created the perfect frame for the doors! If you’re looking for design and build services, let me know and I’ll put you in touch

I love being able to do something with even the roughest looking barn beam. This custom 6’ bench is coming together nicely. The legs are mortised a bit to sit more flush into the sides of the beam. Welded these up from pieces of scrap and cutoffs. Only thing left is a matte black finish on the legs and final assembly

Got the new 20x20 carport all put together and I’m having fun finally getting to organize all the windows, doors and chairs that I’ve had stashed away in a bunch of different places

Made a delivery out to Amador county today and spotted these two beauties, remnants of former homesteads. That boom lift unloading my flatbed is killer. That load of 8x8 beams weighs close to 2000lbs, which we loaded on the truck by hand, and then the buyer unloaded with his boom lift. I’d need a huge yard to have something like that but it’s always fun to think about working with some bigger equipment

Worked late today, getting this 20x20 put together, at the new yard space. Only thing left now is to put the roof tin on. If it ever does rain, I’ll be ready. I’ve wanted to have a better space for doors, windows and furniture pieces so this will be a big upgrade. As usual, the yard is open to the public on Saturday mornings. Come by and see all the new developments

Took a few days off from a crazy and hectic work schedule, to spend some time up near the el dorado National Forest and the south fork of the American River. I’ve always been drawn to woodworking, to the forest and trees and seeing douglas fir, sugar pine, ponderosa pine, red fir, and incense cedar trees in their natural environment, always inspires what I do, working to salvage and reclaim vintage lumber and give these treasures a second life

Love what #tworusticgals did with this old military surplus crate that I found in that barn I took down in Stockton back in August. Contact them if you’re interested in this or any other their other builds

1x8 redwood double ogee siding. Want to know what you don’t find too much reclaimed redwood? It’s too fragile to salvage Nevertheless, spending a couple of days getting off what I can. I’ve hit this same siding but in red fir, back at the yard. If you’re foinh some small repairs or is thing on your old house and want to use something original, hit me up. On a side note, look at those cute vents! I might try and get those out

Just hit 1000 followers!!! It kind of snuck up on me. This month is also 5 years for me, doing this as an actual business. Just want to say that that I really appreciate you guys and that I always tell people that I have the greatest clients and customers. We all know that pickers, salvage hunters, recyclers, repurposers, antique lovers, old house fanatics, we are all cut from the same cloth, the same crazy tribe of people who save something because you never know when you’re going to need it. So just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to all of you

Love it! I built these doors a little while back for Nicole and Dan, a local designer and builder team, and they did an amazing job with the installation and the overall remodel. If you’re looking for design services, contact Nicole, of ERA Design, at (916) 996-8386. She is doing amazing stuff with all my barnwood and tin! I included a couple of pics of where the wood for the doors came from

It’s was kind of bittersweet to let go of this this one-of-a-kind anvil but that’s the nature of the business. I picked this up at the now defunct Eandi Metal Works in the Fruitvale neighborhood of Oakland. It’s part of a ship engine crankshaft that was repurposed into an anvil. I am hanging onto the porcelain sign. The buildings were recently sold. Not sure if they’re going to build condos or retail there
