So long, farewell I’ve made the decision to not renew my lease on the space at 1817 Powell and say goodbye to my little shop in the neighborhood. The last 3 years have been a wild ride for me and the family, and I want to THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for supporting the shop! Guys. Only a little more than 1 week left of school for the kids! . I’ll be honest. I haven’t found the energy to do too much with the shop. My priorities have definitely shifted. I am acutely aware that there is no way I could possibly do all the things I was doing prior to this pandemic without childcare. Now that school is closed and after school programs aren’t open, there was just no way I was mentally able to juggle the things I once was able to balance (rather precar...iously) on my plate. My hope is that I’ll be able to invest more mental energy and time into the shop during summer break, but more than ever I am so grateful to all the educators and after school program personnel who cared for my children during the weekdays before this virus. Let’s pay these people more, can we?! . I love my children and my business, but I do not feel present for either when I am multitasking. So, for now I’m doing mom stuff at home, nurse stuff at the hospital and will get to the shop stuff eventually. With Luke being home, I am able to duck away about once a week to volunteer in the neighborhood. Thursdays have become my day to do food bank stuff in the morning and #nbdelivers orders in the evening. It’s really lifted my spirits in a way I have desperately needed. In trying to inform myself of current events I’ve also seen how ugly people can be towards each other during this time of crisis. Thursdays remind me that there are still people in the world, people in my neighborhood, who are still out doing good. People who want to help their neighbors. People who recognize this is a difficult time for many and want to ease their pain. People who are thinking outside themselves. Guys, there are still people like this out there . I am reassured of this fact every week. So, if you’ve ordered from a local restaurant/business, if you’ve donned your mask on your walks around the neighborhood, if you’ve kept your distance from me , Thank You!
