Still good info :) Aloha, Thank you so much for your responses to yesterday's email. I am glad to know each of you and I appreciate all that was shared. Thank you for being such GREAT people! Man, I'm lucky.... Okay- I promised earlier this week to expand on morning routines. One major reason for increased stress during this time is that our "normal daily routine" is completely disrupted. A simple way to ease some of the stress caused by this disruption is to make a morning routine. Like it or not, we tend to do better with some structure in our days. We are creatures of habit. Each one of us have patterns that we've set up by repeating the same behavior over and over again. We can get ready for the day almost on autopilot. We can drive to school, work or the gym without having to think. We are pretty amazing really. A complex activity such as driving in traffic and navigating the busy streets to our destination, with a little practice becomes "second nature". It's pretty miraculous. So what can we do now that our routine has been upended? A simple remedy is to create a new one. Your brain will love it. You will find a sense of accomplishment and notice lowered stress and frustration. Having a routine and checking the boxes as you accomplish your routine queues your brain to produce the "feel good" hormones---- endorphines, seretonin, dopamine to name a few. Your brain & nervous system do not care if you ran a 10k or simply brushed your teeth. If it's a intentional part of your routine and you've check the box, your brain will reward you EQUALLY. Score! am I right? Be creative. Be intentional. Wake up with purpose and see how great your day can be. And by the way, you will have successfully lowered the amount of stress hormones floating around your body and will have BOOSTED your immune system. Sounds easy, right? It is. What are some of your morning routines? What are you going to add or change in your morning routine? It is so fun to hear from you. Really :) quick note: If you have been working on the 30 second cold water challenge in your shower (Wim Hof style)....AWESOME! You can absolutely do the 30 cold seconds in the beginning of your shower, then turn your water toasty warm for the remainder. You will still get all the benefits and half of the shivers.
