GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The position is intended to identify and train students to pursue a career in the energy efficiency field, to start as an apprentice installers/trainees where they will be exposed to and trained in the business of installing energy efficiency/weatherization services. The apprenticeship/training period will develop needed understanding, knowledge and skills to begin a career in the energy efficiency field that will begin with entry level to higher levels of positions with increased responsibilities. After a 3-6 month period of training, the person’s capability, capacity, understanding, skills acquired and aptitude will be evaluated for possible hire as a full time employee. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: Under the supervision of the Weatherization Supervisor, the person selected for this position shall perform the following: Attend and pass required training and/or seminars to acquire knowledge, understanding and skills relative to the principles of energy efficiency and weatherization that will lead to a career in this field; Practice and perform simple tasks as but not limited to: Replacing LED/CFL light bulbs and night lights, hard-wiring lamps; Installing water-saving measures such as low flow shower heads, faucet aerators and thermostatic valves; Removing and/or changing water heater blanket and pipe wraps; Other minor home repair work, as needed.
