He or she will maintain visual observation of the assigned patient at all times, and verbally redirect the patient in person or over a 2-way audio device in the patient's room. RESPONSIBILITIES Support a safe environment for patients by providing continuous observation and surveillance. Expected to provide a first line of action by verbally redirecting the patient, from engaging in at-risk behaviors and notify the professional staff of the patient's needs and/or alert them in the case of an emergency. Complete documentation on the observation flow sheet every 15-30 minutes Participate in the handoff of pertinent information. Assist licensed nursing staff with cares and seek assistance or advice when a patient appears to pose a threat to themselves or others Float to other hospital locations when needed REQUIREMENTS Prior healthcare experience Trained in Crisis Prevention and Intervention preferred High School Diploma or GED Preferred BLS or CPR Certification Ability to communicate effectively with patient, family, visitors and hospital staff and respond quickly to patient behavioral changes by reporting and summoning assistance. Solid customer service skills. Ability to work in an environment that may be stressful with individuals having diverse personalities and work styles. RESPONSIBILITIES Disinfects patient treatment, invasive care areas, staff and visitor areas. Performs collection, storage, and disposal of general medical, biohazard, pharmaceutical, chemotherapy, sharps and soiled linen products from patient treatment areas in accordance with established policies and procedures. Cleans remodeled or newly constructed areas and ensure they are ready for occupancy. Performs project work to include cubicle curtain changes, construction cleanup, floor refinishing, carpet cleaning, wall washing, refrigerator cleaning, and other projects as assigned. Prepares patient rooms, exam rooms and patient support areas for new patients including disinfection, bed making, floor care, and supplies replenishment. Interacts verbally with patients and visitors to provide directions, hospital information, guest room services and general hospitality. REQUIREMENTS Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate by telephone.
