Redwood Pals Rescue 01.07.2021

Our Carter is still in search of the perfect home. He has been in foster for about six months. His foster mom loves him dearly but thinks there is a better home waiting for him. She says: Carter is an amazing companion who plays hard, sleeps sound and loves big. He loves walking and jogging, playing at the beach and romping in the yard or house with sturdy toys. He is incredibly affectionate and loyal to his people and wants nothing more than to be part of the team. He loves... riding in the car and going on adventures. He is very good with all basic commands and walking on the leash. He is also super silly and playful. He knows some great tricks and is smart and always eager to learn more. He is super communicative if he needs to go outside and has never been destructive. He rarely barks but likes to shake his head to make an ear-flapping sound to get your attention. He waits patiently for his food and outside the front door to get his paws wiped off when they are muddy. He is the best cuddler I've ever met. He loves snuggling on the couch and in bed (but doesn't get on the furniture until he is invited) and just really likes to be close. He does have a little separation anxiety, but will willingly (and mostly happily) use his crate. If given the proper exercise and mental stimulation, he will spend hours sleeping, until it's time for another round of play, and then more sleep. Carter can be very sensitive and can sometimes be timid or get frightened. He would do well in a home with people who can be patient and very loving, and he would love a good fenced yard to romp and play. He is gentle and patient with children and does well with most dogs, but responds to aggressive dogs with aggression. He has a pretty intense prey drive and loves to chase lizards and squirrels and birds, so while he would not do so well living with cats, he is an excellent ratter and will rid your yard of rodents. Carter has so much love to give and will give it generously to anyone who can provide him with consistent love and attention.

Kona is most likely a husky/golden mix breed, 2-3 years old, about 60+ lbs. She’s a happy, spirited, engaging female. Trainer Markus Milligan describes her as smart, wanting to please & a little rough around the edges. Kona was adopted from Redwood Pals and has been in a very loving home for the past year, but owner’s health/ medical condition, makes proper dog care difficult. She’s shared this home with another dog (male, pit mix) & they get along very well. Kona is initially excited by unfamiliar dogs, but does well if properly introduced. Cats, no. She is very good in the house, loves to play & is an attentive, loving companion. Kona is scheduled for DAP and Bordatella boosters & a nail trim on July 1. She is spayed and her rabies vaccine is current.. Bedding & crate available. Please contact us for more information or to meet Kona.

This is our rescue group, Redwood Pals Rescue. Check out our fundraiser! The silent auction items are best for local folks, but I would happily mail the potholders to any out of the area bidders. Look through the "Support our Programs" section for a glance at some of the work we do. Thank you! Happy February! We are launching an online fundraiser to support our programs. Come visit https://rpr.betterworld.org and check out some fun silent auction items, specific programs that you can support (like puppy vaccines or veterinary exams) and two beautiful quilts - one dog-themed and one cat-themed - up for raffle. We can't do this without you! Thank you for all your support!

Update: pup has found a home! This is a courtesy post. The number to contact is not Redwood Pals. However, we will be happy to work with an adopter to get the puppy vaccinated, wormed,, and assist with arrangements for getting her spayed. "This pup is a 10 week old female labrador and pitbull mix. She is very sweet and loving. She was the smallest of the litter and weighs about 4 to 5 pounds. The reason we need to find her a new home, is our older dog who is 11, has become ve...ry stressed out over the addition of her to our family and we are concerned for his health. We are needing to rehome her as soon as possible. Our contact information is 530-315-0238." See more

Update: Summer is with a foster mom and two canine brothers. Keep following for updates. No puppies yet!! We have been asked to help this sweet little pitty mix Summer. Summer was brought to Humboldt Spay and Neuter but she was way too far along in her pregnancy to be spayed. Her owner recently became homeless and is not in a good position to care for her, much less those puppies-to-be. Is there someone out there that can open their home to Summer? She is only about eleven mo...nths old and is friendly with other dogs. She has not been around cats or kids but the HSSN clinic staff say she is very sweet and just wanted pets and snuggles. from them. Redwood Pals has all the supplies that would be needed for mama and pups - wading pool, towels, blankets, dog food. Please message us here or email [email protected] if you are interested or would like more info. See more

Grover got to go to dash and Splash over the weekend. Wasn't so thrilled about jumping off the dock but showed excellent form in the pool.

Update: Rex met a potential adopter today and did wonderfully. He was friendly with the people and playful with their senior dog but it wasn't quite a match. Rex was a bit too energetic in his play for Chewy. His foster is still looking for a home for Rex so if you are interested in meeting him please contact Kathryn at the ph# below. this is a courtesy post for Rex. he is not a Redwood Pals dog but is available through a private party.. Rex is a 2 yr. old Pit mix. He is very people friendly and gets along well with other dogs and cats. He is house broken and does very well inside. If you would like more information on him or would like to meet him please contact Kathryn @ 1 904 412 2979.

Thank you everyone for your donations on Giving Tuesday! Let us introduce you to a new dog of ours Moe. This compact little man is 50 pounds of love and sweetness. Moe's dark brown eyes, short snout, and wrinkled forehead combine to make an adorable face. Moe is such a charmer that when he went to the vet to get neutered, one of the clinic employees wanted to adopt him. Unfortunately she was unable to convince her landlord she should have a dog so Moe is still looking for tha...t forever home. He has an upbeat, playful, silly personality. He is a snuggle bug and would love nothing more than to climb into your lap and smother you with kisses. He wiggles and wags his whole body when you pet him and if you scratch just the right spot be ready to hear some happy grunts. Moe likes to meet other dogs. If you would like more information or to meet Moe contact us here on facebook or email us at [email protected] See more
