None of us will soon forget the incredible highs and the devastating lows that 2020 brought. So many people suffered unimaginable losses but we also witnessed the power of community and togetherness. We would like to thank each and every one of you for the continued support of YOUR fire department. We would not be here if it weren’t for you!! Take a look at some of our department highlights from 2020! We love showing you what we do and these pictures are just a... small snapshot of RCFD’s 2020. Retirements, strike teams, fires, training, and public outreach made for quite the year! Here’s to 2021! It’s our continued honor to serve. @redwoodcityfirefighters @cityofredwoodcity @cityofsancarlos @bayareafirefighter @californiafirefighter @redwoodcitypd @cityofredwoodcity @smcsheriff #top9of2020 #community #whatayear #2020 #firedepartment #servicetoothers See more

This little guy was struck by a car last night and then ran to a parked car to hide. He ended up climbing into the engine compartment and became stuck. E10 was called to assist and we are happy to say he made it out ok and was sent to the veterinarian for a full check up. Get well pup! @redwoodcityfirefighters @cityofsancarlos @cityofredwoodcity @bayareafirefighter @californiafirefighter @redwoodcitypd @peninsulahumanesociety #puppy #firedepartment #puppyextrication #veterinarian #chihuahua

Earlier today, your Redwood City Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire. Crews arrived to find a kitchen fire that had extended in the walls to the second story as well as to a back deck. The fire was quickly brought under control and there were no injuries. These photos show how firefighters search for hidden fire and smoke to ensure the structure is as safe as possible for the residents. Thanks to Redwood City Police and Woodsi...de Fire Protection District for the assistance. @redwoodcityfirefighters @redwoodcitypd @woodsidefireprotectiondistrict @bayareafirefighter @californiafirefighter @califirefighter @cityofredwoodcity @cityofsancarlos #kitchenfire #structurefire #firedepartment #firefighter #overhual #hotline See more

On this Black Friday, as you shop for the holidays and put up your decorations, please consider a little something extra for the Redwood City & San Mateo County Toy & Book Drive. Your donation of toys, books, and holiday decorations will go to children in the community who may not otherwise receive gifts this year. 2020 has been an exceptionally arduous year for most but a child’s happiness will always transcend those difficult times. Thank you for your consid...eration and for your continued support of this wonderful community! All donations can be dropped off at any fire station in Redwood City and San Carlos as well as the Redwood City Police Department. @redwoodcityfirefighters @cityofsancarlos @cityofredwoodcity @redwoodcitypd @smcsheriff @redwoodcitypal @ rwcparks @woodsidefireprotectiondistrict @sanmateocounty @chpgoldengate @chanzuckerberginitiative @shealthdistrict @saga.foundation @sanmateocu @fblocal @giantscommunityfund @fgfconsulting @olympicclubfoundation @kaiserfamilyfoundation @pettinellifp @bayareafirefighter @californiafirefighter #toydrive #holidays #donations #communitysupport #forthekids #holidaycheer

On the heels of fighting the CZU Lightning Complex fires in San Mateo and Santa Cruz counties, RCFD and Strike Team 2275A are now on scene at the Creek Fire in Fresno County. The above pictures were taken at approximately 11 pm in the vicinity of the Sierra National Forest. Welcome home E12 and strike team 2275A from the CZU Complex Incident! Fifteen days, two counties, hundreds of miles driven, dozens of houses saved, a couple close calls, a lot of lost sleep, incredible collaboration between strike teams, some decent food, missed loved ones, a few laughs along the way...and now home. It was an honor to serve those in need during this very difficult time. Although California is going through a rough time with the wildfires and COVID-19, we are still dedicated to improving our skills and knowledge. Here we show the life-saving power of an airbag. Inflating in approximately 1/20th of a second, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates airbags saved the lives of 50,000 people over the last 30 years. We care about your safety so please continue to drive safe, wear your seatbelt, and hopefully you’ll never see the airbags in your car! @cityofredwoodcity @cityofsancarlos @redwoodcityfirefighters @bayareafirefighter @californiafirefighter @nhtsagov #training #airbag #autoextrication #demonstration #firedepartement #firefightertraining #savinglives

Last week we had the distinct pleasure of training with the United States Coast Guard. The training seen here shows the rescue basket being lowered to the fire boat where a victim would be loaded and hoisted back to the helicopter. This operation requires an immense amount of coordination and we can’t thank them enough for this opportunity! @bayareafirefighter @cityofredwoodcity @cityofsancarlos @californiafirefighter #fireboat #helicopter #uscg #rescue #mh65 #training #sfbayarea
