Eviction Moratorium Update This week, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) extended its nationwide eviction moratorium to July 31, 2021. According to the National Association of REALTORS (NAR), the CDC established the moratorium in September 2020 to protect tenants unable to pay rent due to the COVID-19 crisis. It was set to expire June 30, 2021. ... NAR has updated information including the status of two lawsuits challenging the legality of the CDC eviction moratorium. The statewide eviction moratorium in California is set to expire June 30, 2021. Reports from Sacramento say the statewide moratorium may be extended until October 1, 2021. Closer to home, an Alameda County eviction moratorium - which is tied to the local health emergency declared in response to the COVID-19 crisis - is still in effect. The County moratorium will only be lifted 60 days after the end of the health emergency. County officials have not announced when the health emergency will end, which will then trigger the countdown for ending the County moratorium.
