Part of the challenge for those planning to purchase a home is their perception of how much they will need to save for the down payment. Nearly a third think they need to put more than 20% down. Many believe at least 20% down is necessary to buy the home of their dreams, they do not realize programs are available which permit as little as 1% in some markets. Myth #2: "I need a super high credit score to be considered for a mortgage" Well over 50% of all home buyers in 2018 had a credit score between 540-750. Many programs, such as FHA Mortgages, allow for scores that aren't perfect. These buyers will still have access to great interest rates, which are near all time lows hovering around 4% for a 30-year fixed. You can do it if you truly want it.
