The Monsoon Season is here. Heavy rainfall over the burn scar could lead to flood, mud and debris flows. If you live within evacuation zones for the Apple / El Dorado Burn scar; please make sure to inspect your home for storm readiness, are familiar with your evacuation zone, and are prepared to leave if necessary! Visit https://rivcoready.org//Storm-Re/Apple-El-Dorado-Fire-Info for more information!

Last Thursday we celebrated the completion of the BNSF Bridge protection project downstream of Prado Dam. When complete, Prado Dam will be able to release over 30,000 cfs into the Santa Ana River. The bridge piers needed to be reinforced to withstand the increased flow. Riverside County Flood Control served as the local sponsor for this Army Corps of Engineers project. Thank you to Supervisor Spiegel and Congressman Ken Calvert for coming out to help us celebrate the day!

We’re monitoring the storm expected Sunday Monday. Expect increased runoff and some mud but forecasted rainfall rates are not expected to cause mud and debris... flows in recent burn scars. Stay alert as conditions can change and never cross flooded roads. Turn Around, Don’t Drown! Sandbags are available from most local fire stations. With the recent El Dorado and Apple Fires, we wanted to share some clips of mudflows from the 2018 Holy Fire. Burn Scars can create dangerous flooding conditions. Remember, when driving - Turn Around! Don't Drown.
