PRAY FOR THIS FAMILY the woman attacked at the mall This afternoon, I had the honor to sit with Cheryl, the 63-year-old vibrant woman who was attacked by a monster with a bat yesterday as she came out of Macy's at the mall. I met with her family members, including her beautiful 89-year-old mother. Doctors have told Cheryl's family that she is brain dead. Please pray for Cheryl. the family wants the public to know who Cheryl is. She is a wonderful daughter, sister, friend, for...mer wife, and citizen. She loves everybody. She is mother to her husband's children and a grandmother. Her grandchildren are suffering terribly, as is the entire family. Again, prayers. her sister, Pamela ( in picture below on left, Cheryl is right) said Cheryl loved to dance. Cheryl's mother, who I'll turn 90 in May, can't believe what has happened to her beautiful baby. ( Cheryl's mom just got her drivers license approved!) cheryl is a nurse. She loved helping people. She used to work in hospice, assisting people with love and care who were dying. More recently, Cheryl has been working as an advice nurse for Kaiser. you wouldn't know it by her tiny body, but Cheryl is a GREAT cook. Twice she went to cooking school in Italy and Mom loves her soups. i hugged and cried with all of the family. I told them Fairfield has a big heart and we are praying for Cheryl and the family. I touched Cheryl's tiny, warm chest and told her everybody is praying for her. I told her I'm sorry about what happened. And I prayed for healing, understanding that, sometimes, the ultimate healing is eternal life. I rubbed her small arms that hold her grandchildren and patients she has helped. The arms that make awesome Italian dishes, and swing when she dances. Godspeed, sweet Cheryl. I am here for you and your family. But I feel helpless. However, I will do everything in my power to ensure the monster spends his life in prison. I will do that by speaking to the DA, going to court, and supporting the family. I will also work with police and the mall to make it safer. Police will have foot patrols in the mall, thanks to our great Chief Joe Allio. I have touched Cheryl. Cheryl touched me. I can't let it go. the family thanks everybody for love and support. they appreciate the police so much, and the heroes who helped Cheryl after the attack, and the citizen who chased down the monster.
