What Does A Snake Eat? . . . All snakes are carnivores. Their diet depends on the species. Some eat warm-blooded prey (e.g., rodents, rabbits, birds), while others eat insects, amphibians (frogs or toads), eggs, other reptiles, fish, earthworms, or slugs. Snakes swallow their food whole. The most popular pet snakes usually eat prey such as mice, rats, gerbils, and hamsters. Larger pet snakes also eat whole rabbits.... #exoticpets #snakebites #petsnake #snakediet #snakefacts #funpets #exoticpetvet #simivalleyvet #ranchosequoia See more

Does My Pet Really Need Dental X-Rays? Taking dental radiographs is the only way to know the true health and stability of your pet’s teeth. Yes, much can be determined by closely evaluating the visible surfaces of your pet’s teeth, and even more by probing around the teeth for signs of gum and bone loss. But, comparable to the situation with icebergs, much more tooth (and information) lay below the surface. In the top image you see an X-Ray and the arrow is pointing to an ...abscess underneath the surface, which as you can see in the bottom image, was not visible at all to the naked eye. If any diseased teeth does need to be extracted (like such), dental radiographs also help us to ensure 100% of the tooth root has been extracted. This is very important because roots that are left behind can cause continued pain and infection. The goal is to get it done right the first time so you're pet doesn't have to go under anesthesia again anytime soon! Bad breathe is NOT normal, so if your pet's mouth is stinky, give us a call for a dental exam today at 805-522-7476 #themoreyouknow #petdental #petbreathe #petsofinstagram #pet#dental #xray #radiology #vet #veterinary #vetmed #veterinarymedicine #animalhospital #ranchosequoia

When you spay and neuter your pets, you give them a better chance at a happy life! They often live longer because they are less likely to run away, get in fights, or get hit by cars. They are less likely to get certain types of cancers. Females are less likely to get pyometras and other deadly diseases. Males are less likely to spray and have other behavioral problems! Mommm, what do you mean there's no pet insurance? Let’s talk pet insurance!! RSVH is a huge proponent of health insurance for your pets. We recommend it to all our puppies and kittens during their first few visits. The three biggest benefits to getting it early are... 1 Lower monthly payments: this is due to no pre-existing conditions.... 2 Coverage of any unexpected emergencies: you just spent money on purchasing/adoption of your pet along with their vaccines and spay/neuter. Insurance will cover extra things that may happen such as GI upset, allergies, unexpected trauma, etc. by helping with the financial burden of vet bills. 3 If your pet develops a health condition, then they will help with coverage for the life of your pet. This means medications, food, or diagnostics tests that are needed in life long management of the disease. Young pets can develop orthopedic conditions, allergies, heart disease, etc. It will help you manage your vet bills and take some of the pressure off. There are TONs of options out there. Do your research and compare. Nationwide tends to have plans that cover both wellness and emergency situations for an affordable rate. Compare your needs, the monthly payment, and see what plan makes the most sense for your situation. Want to learn more?
