When a live broadcast comes our way, it really gets the old film lot adrenaline going. #Repost @KPRC2 Derrick Shore #throwback to the 2004 election (and a time when I wore clothing that was way too big) #bushvkerry #2004 #electionnight Channel One News : @andycheatwood @sethdoane

Since we’re in limbo between Halloween and election results, we’re throwing another October 31st moment at you, from 1996. We love it, J.T. #tbt #Repost @jt_omalleyla #HalloweenThrowbackChallenge 1996 Somebody call HBO and tell them they owe me royalties for Pam in #trueblood

Could we be a century-old testament to creativity in filmmaking without an artful building? Architecture is key. Watch a movie and look at the buildings if you don’t believe us. #Repost @cheriadamsdtla Love the architecture

Be honest and let us know if you remember this show that filmed on our lot in the 70s? Regardless, now who wants French fries with their Tuesday?! #Repost @Donna Marie Dowling This was the set of the famous McDonaldland that was on Stage 5 from 1970-75. It was quite magical. Everything moved. Since I lived in an old makeup room on the lot, I would take my niece & nephew down there in the evening when they would spend the night w/ me. They didn't touch anything, just walked around, & looked at everything in awe. They were allowed to visit during the day & eat hamburgers & fries when the cast & crew were on lunch break.

We always like to start the week with red carpet energy. #Repost @katherinekellylang On the red carpet for Stan The Man movie screening at Raleigh Studios. I had so much fun filming this romantic comedy, and my character was a hoot!

Dressing up is all fun and games until the costume designer hands you 6-inch stilettos for your Elvira Mistress of the Dark... Happy Halloween from all of us at Raleigh Studios! Costume yourselves like you’re filmmaking professionals, ok? #Repost @Days Off La Elvira Mistress of the Dark on the set of Elvira’s Movie Macabre filmed at Raleigh Studios on Melrose Ave 1980s. Did you guys know it took nearly 2 hours to transform into Elvira!? Her hair is naturally fire red and needed to be masked with her wig, her extravagant make-up, ANDDD rib-hindering corset. Not to mention she had to shoot in 6-inch stilettos for hours on end. I don’t last an hour even walking..

It’s stories like these that make our studio so extraordinary, time and time again. And ending up at our sister company - the Sunset Marquis Hotel - is always how to end a great story (and likely start another one!). #Repost @davidmelodic_studio This was Grammy night at Steven Tyler’s Grammy party at Raleigh Studios for Steven's Janie’s Fund. Then we all headed over to one of our regular spots, the Sunset Marquis, with so many great friends in one place. Lady Gaga, Alice Coo...per, Britney Spears, John Stamos, and ZZ Top for a great night. When a childhood hero becomes a friend, client, or peer... I like to have them sign something personal to me for my studio. Steven was happy to make a contribution. It means a lot to me. It’s a full circle representation of falling in love with music at 4 years old. Proud the industry hasn’t changed who I was as a kid. Peace!

Reading Doug’s story (below) about Eddie Van Halen on our film lot pairs well with a screening of Almost Famous. What’s your favorite rock ‘n’ roll movie? And Rest In Peace to this extraordinary rock god. #Repost @dougmeyer Enough with the punches to the gut this year, ok? It’s wearing me down. Back in the day I worked on a ton of music videos. I was 25 in January of ‘89, working on Van Halen’s Feels So Good (OU812). During the 2-day shoot at Raleigh Studios, the thin...g I remember most about Eddie was how damn nice he was. It was as if everyone except him was aware of what an absolute #rockgod he was. And he was almost always smiling and generally having a good time. Just a super-chill, unassuming, really happy guy. It didn’t matter if you were the director @andymorahan, video commissioners John Beug or Susan Silverman (@produceallmedia) from Warner Bros Records, or Karl Kashiwagi the craft service dude. He’d just show up, wanting to chat and have a good time. So, I’m on set off in a corner logging stock footage on an old upright Moviola (yeah, I’m that old! And if you don’t know google it). Eddie was totally into the footage we were going to be using in the edit, so he’s hanging out with me a lot, looking over my shoulder at all the random footage, guitar slung over his shoulder (yeah, THAT guitar! #frankestrat), talking shit about Valerie, and playing random and ridiculously amazing riffs as we’re hanging out just diddling, but when EVH diddles it’s just something else. I catch myself having an out of body experience me and Eddie Van Halen geeking out over various shit, and he’s jamming literally 12 inches in front of me. Like I said, I’ve met a lot of artists and actors, but never so memorably as this. He wants me to show him how to run the moviola, which I do. Then he pulls the guitar strap over his shoulder and says, Here, hold this? So, while Eddie is goofing around with the film, I sling his guitar over my shoulder, and play. Eddie Van Halen’s guitar. That guitar! And he looks at me for a moment and smiles! Only the good die young! (I’ll save my Billy Joel story for another post.)
