Tonight is Rahima Foundation's 28th Anniversary! Dear Rahima Supporter, Assalam aleykum! Rahima Foundation was conceived on the 21st night of Ramadan, 1993. So tonight in sha Allah will be our 28th anniversary. Jazak Allah Kheyr for making this journey possible.... Our founder, Mrs. Habibe Husain, has for many years, done a khatm of Quran on this night, and dedicated the ajr of it to everyone and their families who have supported this work over the years, through their donations, volunteering, advocacy, and duas. May Allah SWT through His Mercy, and for the sake of these Blessed Nights and Days, accept her duas for all of us. Last Saturday was probably the busiest single-day of our Monthly Food Distributions, with over 300 families served in 6.5 hrs. Thanks to our Staff and Volunteers, the entire operation from registration to giving food cart to clients, went smoothly with 1 client served from start to finish in 1min. & 20 secs.

Congress finally reached a deal on a new coronavirus economic relief package but it’s simply not enough. Silicon Valley’s high cost of living means it will be some time until our neighbors are back on their feet. This last weekend we were able to help families in our community through our monthly Food distribution. We are all making adjustments in our lives due to the current surge in Covid-19 and the related Stay-at-Home order in California. We at Rahima Foundation are continuing to operate and provide food and rental assistance to an increasing no. of people; however, in order to protect our staff, volunteers, and clients, we have reduced the days we are open to just 2 days. Our monthly food distribution events will continue in sha Allah as scheduled, but with limited volunteers. We g...ave a year-end bonus by doubling the amount of rental assistance to our clients this month to help pay their rent. Due to lack of Stimulus money and Unemployment benefits, our clients were in great difficulty this month. The extra money was a life-saver for them. Many of them cried with gratitude, and made duas for everyone supporting Rahima Foundation to make this possible through their donations. I overheard this one client who said with tears in her eyes: I did not know how I will pay my rent this month since I did not have enough money, but now with the bonus you have given me, I have enough to cover the rent. Allah helps in ways we do not expect. I thank you, and pray for everyone who made this possible today for me, by supporting Rahima. As we all know, sincere duas are hard to come by, so we really felt humbled and grateful to receive these heart-felt duas on your behalf from so many clients. Last weekend, we held our monthly Food Distribution event for November,.~1500 people benefited from the cart-full of fresh produce, dry goods, and halal chicken among other healthy and nutritious items they received. As you may have seen on the news, the demand for food and financial assistance has dramatically increased this year, due to the economic impact of Covid-19. Many families are turning to Rahima Foundation to receive groceries and help to pay their rent and utilities in order to make ends meet. Today was the start of Rahima Foundation's August Monthly Food Distribution. We served 309 families at the rate of 1 family every 69.9 secs, each family receiving ~100 lbs of produce and dry goods. Due to Covid-19, there is an increase of ~80% in the quantity of food given out from March to August of this year, compared to the same period in 2019. We provided groceries for 1500 people in just 2 days (Sat. & Sun.). Our special items for Ramadan included a 5-lb box of Dates, 10-lb bag of Basmati rice, 25-lbs of Flour, and Tea, as well as our usual items -- oil, dry goods and lots of fresh produce. We are keeping the protocol of social distancing, disinfecting the carts, and wearing masks and gloves. All this would not be possible without our dedicated staff and volunteers, and your monetary support.

Safety, Health, and Protection are in Allah's Hands; however, we need to do our part and then rely on Him. At Rahima Foundation, we get professional help to thoroughly clean and disinfect our warehouse and office areas, before and after food distribution.

In these difficult times of lockdowns , scarcity of basic items in the stores, and the concerns of personal exposure to the coronavirus, our dedicated and committed staff and volunteers were able to work the last 3 days-- Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to package and distribute ~15 tons of groceries to feed over 1000 people. We are very grateful to all of them for their tremendous dedication and personal sacrifices to help the families in need; as well as to all of you for your... trust and generous support to make all this possible.
