This is Travis, our son and partner in this familial endeavor. We haven't talked about this too much; but, he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer approximately 2 months ago. Anyhow, he's diligently battling to beat it (as well as keeping an amazing attitude). So far he's had some good results so we've all got our fingers crossed that he will overcome. If you could send some good thoughts in his direction as he has a long road ahead of him, it would be greatly appreciated by all of us. Our daughter-in-law @linz730 sent me this picture of him pitching in and labeling cans at home for the upcoming release. He normally plays a huge part in our cider and mead making as well as our orchard work; we hope he can return soon as he is sorely missed.
This Saturday, 7/3, is our next bottle release. There's some pretty cool things in this release including our first true apple & grape coferment (as a pét-nat) and our standard plum jerkum in a can. Just a reminder that our anniversary celebration is this weekend. Yes there will be rain which we will combat with tented expanded seating into our parking lot. There will be live music both days, deeeelicious bbq catered by A&S Catering, new bottle and tap releases, sourdough bread by Black Hat Breads for sale, the return of our hot mulled cider, and CIDER DONUTS made with juice we pressed from local apples. This Saturday, in conjunction with our 3rd/5th Anniversary celebration, we are releasing these seven bottles out into the world. They include our 2018 Sidra Furiosa, 2019 Farmstead Blend (our first cider from our farmstead orchard), 2019 Them Pét-Nat Southern Apples, 2019 Santa Rosa Plum Jerkum, 2019 Southern Spy (effervescent Northern Spy x Tejacote fruit wine), 2018 Wynola Scrump, and Transmutation (our first bottled traditional barrel-aged mead). Our Sidra Furiosa Release & Pinchos/Pintxos event on 11/7, from 11 to 1, is a little over a week away. If you want to attend, get your tickets soon as we have sold 2/3 of the available tickets. Your admission includes unlimited long pours of sidra, pinchos (skewered tapas), and your own bottle to do your own long pour plus music from the Asturias and Basque regions of Northern Spain. Our next club bottle release will occur on Saturday, November 7th in conjunction with our Anniversary celebration. The Orchard Club members have first shot at purchasing these releases (Farmstead Blend and Southern Spy are a mere 5 cases each). If you haven't tried it, grab yourself a bottle of our limited release 2018 Newtown Pippin. Sourced from a single massive tree in an off year, this tastes like no Newtown Pippin you have ever tried. Bright acid mellows against an offdry, rich, tannin heavy cider with earthy caramel and toffee notes backed by green apple, kind of like drinking a toffee apple. This is the season for it.
