The RAD Studio Concept House is SO CLOSE to being fully completed! We are excited to share more photos of the finished product and fine details in the next few coming weeks! Recently we completed install of #nichiha siding that emulates the look of cedar plank siding, and is a low maintenance as well as a fireproof product. We think the siding contrasts well with the stucco volumes adjacent to it. The large black aluminum-clad wood windows by @sierrapacificwindows are a great... focal point on the exterior as well. We have been fortunate enough to help a lot of families rebuild from The Carr Fire. The fire may be becoming a distant memory for most, but nearly three years later, there are families still waiting to move home. Thankfully, this particular fire rebuild will be getting the green light to start soon. The home will sit nestled into a hillside with panoramic views overlooking a seasonal creek and nearby foothills. The mono pitch roofs and sloping ceilings point outward in varyin...g directions to offer unique views and experiences from each space within the house. Pack your bags, we go overseas for this next one. These are preliminary designs for a long-term missionary home in Mozambique, Africa. Ryan and David at RAD are very passionate about doing work in our community, but love the opportunity to be a part of something bigger. The home would house a minimum of four individuals looking to make a positive impact in the world. Using local craftsman, and local, obtainable building materials, this home can be built in a relativelyshort... period of time. The fun challenge of this design is learning about all the unique methods of construction, and what is commonplace for a home in this area of Africa. Considering the area’s climate, we designed two opposing shed roofs to create a vault which directs the hot air out through the windows which also bring in indirect light to the space. Inspiration is essential to the continued growth and adaptation in a creative profession like architecture. Learning from others, pushing the limits, and trying new things are what we need to be doing on a constant basis. This project - the broad center in downtown LA - is one of those projects for us this week! Incredible patterned facade system that screens the interior and also ‘lifts’ to reveal it at the same time, highlighting entry points and specific interior program.

Metal siding & paint are going up fast and significantly changing the look of this downtown office building remodel. We are excited to see the scaffolding coming down soon and love seeing our vision come to fruition. We hope that the new tenants will appreciate the new metal awnings functioning to cut out that harsh southern and western sun. They are going to filter some interesting light & shadow with the custom laser cut patterns on each. Stay tuned for final images to see this before and after transformation!
