The 50th anniversary of Earth Day is an opportunity for us all to turn our focus to our planet and reevaluate the choices that we’ve been making. When Danielle and I started Pyrrha, it was really important to us that our company ethos aligned with our own personal values. We quickly realized that it was easier said than done. The problem with business, or even simply living in the world, is that everything we do impacts the earth. We’re presented with environmental challenges... every day - the important thing to realize is that we can always try to choose the path that lessens our footprint. I think that as a result of our collective isolation due to Covid many of us have been forced to slow down and live more simply and mindfully. I for one, have been acutely aware of how little food waste we generate in our house now that we’re eating exclusively at home. It’s a time to ask ourselves if we’re supporting or hurting the earth with our actions. Questioning what we as consumers do is one of the most powerful actions we can take. Be conscious of the things that give you comfort and make you happy, think about the life cycle of the things you purchase, and demand accountability from the people and companies that you buy from. Supporting sustainable companies who manufacture locally and buying things that you intend to keep helps the planet and encourages those who put in the effort to try to do better every day.
