Pug Nation Rescue of Los Angeles 04.12.2020

Tart was relinquished to us by her owner as she was moving and couldn't take her along. But she's soooooooo tiny...no room even for her? In any event, we were happy to have her and knew she'd be adopted in like two minutes. Well, since she had to be spayed she was with us two weeks but the moment Dawn saw her it was a done deal. Last report was that she was settling in nicely, was super spunky and doing well with potty training. Her new name is Ruby and they sure do love her

Last year the Torpie's came to adopt Paris (now Sylvie--on the left) and when they saw Glinda, they let us know that they would love to have another little old lady! Glinda needed them as she was found roaming the streets all alone and estimated to be at least 11 years old; they worked miracles with Sylvie so we were thrilled they wanted to adopt Glinda. She has multiple issues as most old ladies would have...crackly breathing, weak back end, arthritis and the like but we know she instantly felt better with her new family, including the pug man of the house, Hoagie. That's a whole lot of love

Lisa (Chi) and Bart (Pug) needed to escape from a bad home in Mexico and fortunately our transporters brought them to us so they can embark on a better life here in the States. We are still getting to know this bonded pair but from what we have learned Lisa is timid and shy and relies on Bart and Bart loves human attention. At the moment the pair has to be separated because Bart has ringworm which needs to be cleared before he can reunite with his sister. Lisa was very skitti...sh in our main pen with the other dogs so we figured we’d wait for her boyfriend to come out with her so she would feel supported. We do hope that does the trick and they can coexist with the other dogs in general population; we have high hopes as they are only about a year old and have a lot to look forward to. Once Lisa trusts you she’s just fine so for now we are considering them bonded and will see how they do. For more information in Bart (1year old male) and Lisa (1 year old female), their available friends and the adoption process please visit pugnationla.org or email us at [email protected]. Janis Joplin, now Rey, was found roaming the streets with a horrible case of mange. We gladly took the trip to Riverside to pick her up; after 5 weeks of treatment for her skin and eyes she was healthy enough to go home. During the Holiday season we ask that you donate what you can towards our Matching Funds Drive; every dollar you give will be doubled, up to $25,000. Please help us take advantage of the generosity of our donors so we can raise as many funds as possible to ...rescue pugs far and wide well into 2021. There are many easy ways to contribute: 1. Send a check payable to "Pug Nation Rescue" to PO Box 484, Gardena, CA 90248 2. Via Paypal [email protected] 3. Via C/C through our website (choose donation) and put in proper amount. 4. Via Venmo: @PugNation-LA Thank you in advance for your support! PS: You can monitor our progress for the drive to $25,000 on our website www.pugnationla.org

Huge thanks to Amy for pulling London from a Vegas Shelter for us. She’s in pretty bad shape as she can’t walk, has an apparent mass in her abdomen and is a bit despondent. Hard to tell if it’s a neuro issue or she’s been abused and/or is depressed. In any event she needs a ride to Carson ASAP so we can get her assessed - anyone headed in from Vegas? Please message us or email [email protected] if you can help thanks so much.

Jack and Moe were relinquished to us because their family ran into their own health issues and decided they could no longer care for the pair. The boys love human attention and are very playful with their friends in the general population area. Moe is more dominant over Jack so sometimes sibling fights break out but so far nothing too serious. As in a true rivalry, in the next few minutes you will see this bonded pair curled up next to one another as if nothing ever happene...d. The boys are only 1 so we are looking for a home that will take them both and a family or individual who has lots of space and time for two active, beautiful young boys. (Jack: 1 year old male black pug; Moe1 year old male fawn pug) For more information on Jack and Moe, their available friends and the adoption process please visit pugnationla.org or email us at [email protected]. At the ripe old age of 11 Ossie was relinquished to us as her owners were moving and couldn't take her with them. Very sad BUT only 4 weeks after her arrival MB & Cheila recognized her worth and signed on for her the moment they met her. They decided to give her the stage name 'Sophia' from the Golden Girls because she is feisty and funny--we think it's perfect! The ladies report that she gets excited for her walks in the neighborhood and lets everyone know she is the Quee...n. Other favorites include taking field trips with the family, lots of treats and napping on their chests, instantly snoring. They describe her as extraordinary as she's outspoken, confident, fun, funny, loving, gentle and just perfect. They had purchased a stroller for her but she said 'not so fast' and is as energetic as a 6 year old. We couldn't be happier for the three of them Please consider a senior, they will light up your life. See more

Tiny Evee was relinquished to Pug Nation from her previous owners south of the border. So she made the long trip to us and you wouldn’t know what she’s been through; from the moment she arrived she was unfazed, loving and friendly. Our best guess on Evee is she’s Pomeranian / Pug? Not sure but this little bundle of energy loves human attention and is happy playing independently although she gets along just fine with other dogs. She’s only 10 months old and we are already ...sad she won’t be with us too long as we know someone will snatch up this little lover very soon. (10month female mix) For more information on Evee, her available friends and the adoption process please visit pugnationla.org or email us at [email protected]. Don't forget to share our posts! Lip was found roaming all alone before a good Samaritan brought him to us. He must have been on his own for quite a while because when he arrived he was covered in mud and dirt and his nails were so long they were literally curled into his pads. We don't discuss his past with him as he prefers to live in the now. "Lippy" is a dashing gentleman who, despite some hind-end weakness and possible arthritic spine can move pretty well. Despite his circumstances he is full of happin...ess and will gladly wag his tail wildly in return for attention. As he gets comfy here and builds confidence we've noticed a bit of a pep in his step; he's quite the looker (especially because his tongue is always out) and we think he knows it. Lip finds the biggest thrill being outdoors...he finds it impossible to contain himself when we take him to the out for some sunshine, exercise and fresh air. Lip is a gentle, old soul and you can tell he has lived a lifetime or two as you can sense his stories by looking into his eyes. If you're looking for a middle-age friend with a zest for adventure to fill your heart with joy and laughter, please look no further than our beloved pal, Lip. This sweet baby is named Coraline and needs your help. She was listed for sale on Craigslist despite the fact she was badly injured after falling down a man hole. Her owner did not take her to a vet to be diagnosed and did nothing for her pain. No telling how long she suffered until the owner finally agreed to hand her over to us. We took her immediately for X-rays and pain meds; our doctor figured she must have landed on her back and confirmed a few broken vertebrae and ...referred us to a neurologist. Fortunately she can walk, defecate and urinate and unless you lift her she doesn't seem to be in a large amount of pain (of course she's well medicated). Our neurologist said that we could let her back heal on its own but we would be taking the chance that she could experience pain if she turned wrong or it could re-break. Choice two is to get an MRI and a CT Scan and probably back surgery; she's only 6 months old and we want her to have the best chance at a normal and healthy life possible, so we are preparing to go all the way. Of course the cost for such diagnostics and surgery is astronomical but she deserves our best. She needs both tests so they can see her spine and surrounding nerves as well as the bones in her back to make absolutely sure surgery would be successful. Her testing and possible surgery is Monday morning so please think the best of thoughts for our little Coraline and if you can chip in a few bucks we'd really appreciate it. You can contribute through Facebook or in the following other ways: 1. Send a check payable to "Pug Nation Rescue" to PO Box 484, Gardena, CA 90248 2. Via PayPal [email protected] 3. Via C/C through our website (choose donation) and put in proper amount. 4. Via Venmo: @PugNation-LA (last 4 digits of phone for verification 2619) THANK YOU!

Rerun the pug was relinquished to us as he had chronic skin issues and his owner could not keep up. Took us a minute to get him on the right track and then the Castro Family was more than happy to give this sweet, big eyed teddy bear a home. He's pretty content with all of his new found attention and his doggie brother, Harper. We are thrilled Rerun got a second chance and know he will flourish with a ton of love and good care.

Tony and Yisselle came searching for a senior friend for their Pug, Leo (fawn on the left). Papi was waiting patiently for a family as his owner surrendered him to a local shelter and we were able to get him out. After a test drive in the home, the pair wrote to us and said 'of course we want to adopt him'! So Papi now is settled in and enjoying his new home, brother and parents

About a year ago we saw the tiny, fragile Clairee listed on a shelter website. No dog deserves to be in a shelter, never mind a little 14 year old pug. She had a long laundry list of ailments including but not limited to dental disease, luxating patellas, arthritis, etc and we did the best we could to help her feel better. After a few months with us a family came forward to foster her and they took great care of her and she stayed with them about a year; unfortunately they... had to return her. We were SO grateful that Eileen saw Clairee on our social media and was interested in meeting her and possibly adopting her at our Grand Opening. Well, needless to say she fell in love with that little face and took her home. We cannot express what it means to us to see Clairee in the grass, sleeping in a bed, being held and loved every moment of every day. A huge thanks to Eileen for adopting our very precious Clairee See more

Agnes was relinquished to us because she didn't get along with the other dogs in the home. This beauty queen does have a list of ailments - no eyes, she's diabetic and mostly deaf BUT Agnes is about as strong and confident as they come. She's quite amazing, really, as she is full of life and isn't afraid of anything and certainly won't back down from a fight (in fact she starts most of them). We've found that she does get along with some dogs but the problem is because she ca...n't see if a dog runs into her she will go on attack so for now she's been separated for everyone's safety. Once she has "claimed" her human, she's extremely loyal and prefers not to share the attention; she adores endless belly rubs and gives lots of kisses to her human and is hoping to find one that doesn't have any other pups. For more information on Agnes, her available friends and the adoption process please visit pugnationla.org or email us at [email protected]. Don't forget to share our posts! Beautiful, young Snoop was red listed at a local shelter (meaning he could be euthanized) due to aggression. Was he fearful and aggressive when he arrived? Yes. But with most of these dogs they are just afraid, probably have been abused, and just need time to learn to trust again. Jordan and Tiff took the time to visit Snoop a few times, let him get to know them, then they applied, got approved and were thrilled to take him home. He's done really well with them and we couldn't be happier for the little guy and his new family. A huge thanks to staff for being brave and knowing how to handle some of these biters; we all take immense satisfaction in rehabbing them and watching them turn into Teddy Bears.
