Deborah joined PSS in 2017. She says, I was a single parent who decided I needed to go back to school. I felt less than. I was nervous, but I smiled and went with it. I was embarrassed that I needed food stamps and government assistance to survive. I couldn't believe that I followed in my mom's steps and was on welfare. Stay tuned for a major update about Deborah!

Monday, January 18th is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, a national day of service. Here are some ways to celebrate: - pick up litter at your local park or beach - donate blood - write notes to frontline workers or nursing home residents - paint "kindness rocks" and leave them in your neighborhood... - attend a virtual MLK Day event (links below) Want to help PSS families as your act of service for MLK Day? Donate toward our emergency fund for families, mail in a gift card (Target or grocery stores are most helpful), or write an encouraging note to a single parent in college and mail to: Project Self-Sufficiency, 307 Placentia Ave, Suite 203, Newport Beach, CA 92663 Virtual Events on January 18: Minecraft March on Washington, L.A. Did you know that PSS is one of the few nonprofits in the area that helps single parents with the cost of car repairs? We work closely with Fountain Valley Tire and Auto to keep our scholars moving forward in their education and career. Having reliable transportation is one of the keys to success.
