The #P37 was known for its smooth driving characteristics, perfect to calm down a twitchy handling car that could lead to flips. Fun Fact: the #P37 actually started its life as the Dodge Stratus 3.1! After licensing issues caused us to temporarily halt our partnership with Dodge/Chrysler, we reshaped the headlights, grille and taillights, made a few aero tweaks, but preserved most of the successful shape of the 3.1. It became better known as just the #Speed6 as time went on. This body stood the test of time, still winning big races right up until the "LCG revolution" of the Type-S and similar competitor bodies in 2017/18. It was best known for its smooth, neutral an...d "flowing" handling characteristics and became the go-to body on high grip carpet for stock classes in later years. At the 2004 Worlds a young, shaggy-haired German wearing a beanie won his first of many IFMAR World Championships with some spectacular driving, going head to head against a couple of legends in Hara and Masami. It was all done with a new bodyshell that took the Touring Car scene by storm, the Mazda6. Marc Rheinard RC would go on to become one of the most decorated RC drivers ever and one of the faces of our brand for many years to follow. You'll be seeing a lot more of his famous blue+pink in this series in the days and weeks to come! #RacePF

#PFhalloffame 2002: Surikarn C. takes the win in South Africa with the PF Dodge Stratus for our first Touring Car IFMAR Worlds Win! This win holds a special place in the history of PROTOform. Our founder and lead designer Dale Epp recounts the story of this legendary race body:... "When I think back to Surikarn's IFMAR Worlds win in South Africa it brings back lots of memories. It was a time when pro-level on-road RC racing was going through a big transition. "Out with the old - in with the new" as they say. Pan cars were being overshadowed by this new 4WD class with their 4-door sedan style bodies. The 1:1 British Touring Car Series had become an extremely popular racing series because of all the factory involvement, racecars that just plain "looked great" and were based on cars that were affordable to the average car-nut. Before long many RC companies were getting involved and advancing the 4WD drivetrain's state of the art at a remarkable rate. RC Body manufacturers naturally started producing new bodies styles to keep up with the demand and increasing performance. Andy Jacobson of Andy's Bodies was the first company to produce a Dodge Stratus. It was the first sedan body that had a clear advantage over other body designs. After a while it became clear that the "cab forward" design (which is funny to say considering the cab position of current TC bodies!) that Dodge had been pushing, was having a trickle-down effect in the RC world. This configuration made for a great handling 1/10 sedan body. Many body companies jumped on the movement and it seemed that a new Stratus body was being released every month. I tried my best to resist, mainly because I was trying to chart our own path forward, but with at least a dozen different brand Stratus bodies on the market, I realized I was probably missing out on some much-needed sales. So I finally broke down and did my own version. To appease the ROAR, NORRCA, BRCA, and EFRA officials after they had outlawed a few of my previous designs (for reasons I never understood), I decided to do my first Status as realistic as I could without giving up too much on the performance side. So when Surikarn won the Worlds I was quite surprised and VERY thrilled! I'd never met him and did not sponsor him. Like Masami in 1994, he ran the PROTOform brand because it was it was the best performing body for him." -Dale "2002 could be my one of my best memories of R/C racing. A successful weekend in Texas at the Full Throttle Champs! Drivers choosing PROTOform bodies took the wins in 6 classes! Mod Touring was a spirited 3-way battle all even long between TQ Chris Adams, Jonathan Wang and Lex Tyler, swapping times atop the leaderboards multiple times per round, but in the end Chris took TQ over JJ. The main was super intense, 4 minutes of pressure from JJ finally forced Chris into the tiniest of mistakes, catching a dot and rolling over to allow... JJ to get by for the win! 1. JJ Wang - PF Turismo 2. Chris Adams - PF Turismo 3. Lex Tyler Stock Touring was a 2-horse race all weekend with Team PROTOform drivers Phil Matthews and Andrew Doherty pacing the field through qualifying. The mains saw Phil maintain a half second lead for its entirety to take the win! 1. Phil Matthews - PF Turismo 2. Andrew Doherty - PF Turismo 3. Doug Bryson - PF Turismo In its "big race' debut, Eric Epp gave the new #VittoriaGT body its first TQ and win, taking a tone-to-tone win over Johnathan Lee and Marc McGurren. 1.
