That's why our friends at Sierra Watch re-released the Gaffney Brothers' original short, A Tahoe Horror Story! As humorous as this may seem, Alterra Mountain Company's plans for the Lake Tahoe/Truckee Region loom large.... Gondola Update: The Placer County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved Alterra's proposed gondola from Squaw to Alpine, with a mid-station on the White Wolf property in between. Next we await potential modifications and a decision from the U.S. Forest Service. Protect Granite Chief will work with our conservation allies, Sierra Watch / Keep Squaw True / Mother Lode Chapter, Sierra Club to figure out the next steps in our long-term commitment to defend our irreplaceable mountain resources.

Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows Base-2-Base Gondola Alert: On Tuesday, July 23, the Placer County Board of Supervisors will consider approval of Alterra Mountain Company’s proposed Squaw to Alpine gondola. It’s a major project that would have permanent impacts on federally protected Granite Chief Wilderness and the popular Five Lakes Trail. And it would also encourage further development of the White Wolf property as proposed in yellow in the picture below.... Show up and make your voice heard: Tuesday at 9:30 AM at the North Tahoe Event Center in Kings Beach, CA Parking is free for all meeting attendees in the State Park's parking lot.
