YESTERDAY’S UPDATE FROM AMY: Hello! We had a telehealth visit with Dr. Prince this morning since he cancelled his appointments yesterday due to the weather. He... said the X-rays look great! Matthew’s bone is growing and filling in faster than they usually expect it to. We get to go back to lengthening the rod 3 times per day, every day!! He wants to leave the stitches in for a couple more weeks on the big incision. He likes to wait to remove them until the scabs fall off. He said to continue doing whatever we are doing, because everything looks great!! I love his positivity and optimism!! #matthewstrong #strikeoutcancer See more

To all my fellow Veterans around the globe, happy Veterans Day. You know the sacrifices made, the losses felt, the pain physically, mentally, and emotionally, ...to answer the call so that all we know and love can be free. I know for myself and so many others, we would gladly answer the call again, at anytime, on any day, no matter how old or young we are. Honor, Duty, Pride! To all my vet brothers and sisters, be thankful we are here to share this message, and let us never forget those veterans who have passed before us, and those who never made it home. Those of you who are struggling, you are never alone so understand that. Those of you out there reading this, it’s time for a brother check so call a vet friend and touch base. Stay blessed. WILD BILL HICKOK ... KANSAS CITY UMPIRE James Butler Hickok, better known as Wild Bill, was a well-known scout, gunslinger, gambler, lawman, and umpire. There are at least two accounts of times when Hickok was prevailed upon to umpire baseball gamesonce in Fort Hays, Kansas, and the other here in Kansas City. Hickok was quite a fan of baseball, which was just establishing itself as the national pastime. On August 12, 1866, the Kansas City Antelopes hosted the Atchison Pome...roys in a deciding game between the two clubs. There were intimations that there may have been favoritism in the officiating of the other games, since both teams had trounced the other when having home field advantage. (In the game in Kansas City the umpire had actually run for his life.) For the third game, Hickok was asked to officiate by both sides, since both thought Hickok had a better chance of not being swayed by the home crowd. When asked if he could be fair, Hickok said, I’m a U.S. deputy marshal, not one of the local men. I got friends in Atchison, like I got friends here. You got no call to wonder. When game day arrived, Hickok, having studied a borrowed rulebook the day before, quietly took his place behind home plate. He was wearing both of his six-shooters. The encounter has been described as perhaps the most decorous game in the annals of baseball history. After the Antelope victory (48-28), Hickok is said to have been taken back to Market Square in an open carriage pulled by a matched pair of white horses secured by deeply pleased Antelope fans. You have to trust the process! Most people just want to be a part of the result, but without grinding through the process, trusting the process, there will be no positive result. Trust the process and embrace the process... @BillGentryMLB

Rainy cold morning and 2 1/2 hours workout time 8-10:30AM, pitcher/catcher pens, and mas hitting... thought I would make a little post workout stew for this evening meal with this weather. So, I thought I would share it with y’all (the video, not the stew). I hope that by putting a few of these on now and then, some of you older players will start taking care of yourself with a good diet that is quick, easy, and healthy. You can make it for your whole family. Stay blessed @BillGentryMLB

Our little buddy Wyatt Rodart Joined us for his brother Carson’s training session and was given a baseball signed to him by the members of the Pacific Stars Baseball Team. Wyatt is battling a brain tumor and really needs all of us to cover he and family in prayer. Lord I call on you right now to touch Wyatt’s body Lord and heal this young man if that is your will Lord. We know you are always with us, we are never alone, Lord please meet with Wyatt and comfort and calm him, Lord let him know about your plan for his life. Lord bless him and keep him, Lord make your face shine on him and be gracious to him, Lord turn your face toward Wyatt and give him peace. @BillGentryMLB

Our little buddy Wyatt Rodart who was at home batting a brain tumor, sent his dad and brother in for Carson’s training with two LA Dodger cookies for me. Wyatt is a huge Dodgers fan and we have often gone back and forth over the Dodgers. So when the cookies arrived from Wyatt of course I was a little suspicious. If you knew Wyatt’s sense of humor, you would be a little suspicious as well! So, with that, I made Carson eat one of the cookies with me. Thank you Wyatt! The cookies were great and apparently not tainted (you little booger), and yes your Dodgers are World Champions, but I’m throwing a COVID Asterisk on the end of that title. Love ya little man and Rodart family. Stay blessed. @BillGentryMLB
