Our clients had a great time being inspired by San Diego Humane Society, who hosted an art therapy zoom session last week. A big shout-out to Chandler for doing a great job instructing, and "Roald" the rabbit, our fluffy muse, who made a memorable guest appearance

All new or gently used donations are welcome and appreciated...art books, children's stories, cookbooks, reference books, etc. You may drop them off at our main office or we can coordinate pickup, just let us know what works for you. Thank you
Our PFI'ers have been whipping up tasty snacks and staying healthy and centered with yoga. Take time for self-care

This past 4th of July looked a little different, didn't it? Nevertheless, our clients managed to celebrate their American spirit with a festive craft....an ex...plosion of red, white , and blue stars! Big stars, little stars, and stars inside of stars....you name it, they did it! Probably every variation you can imagine. Gather these stars together and you've got a cute Americana door hanger. Enjoy! Promising Futures, Inc
Here's a great video celebrating Garth and the many wonderful moments we all shared Be sure to see the previous post below!
Garth Tribute Garth was welcomed into Heaven on June 28th following a series of devastating seizures. His family and many friends at PFI will miss him terribly but Garth had been struggling to eat and seemed tired and lethargic for at least two months. Garth came to PFI when he was 12 years old. He wasn't doing much for himself in those days- including feeding himself. He quickly showed how smart he was by taking control of his environment. He has achieved a great deal of ...maturity in the 31 years he has been here while finding ways to keep us all alert & always thinking of how to outsmart him. His sense of humor was legendary. He would think of the funniest things to make staff "react". I remember one time watching him laugh to himself, run into the kitchen and pick up a can of chili pepper only to dump the whole container into the pot on the stove! He was willing to pay the price of being naughty just to get staff to react exactly the way they did. Garth taught us so much about not giving up without a fight. He learned to enjoy the "family parties", vacations at Big Bear, school & work programs and weekly dinners with Dad out in the community. Perhaps his biggest achievement was learning to be around his peers without needing to be the center of attention. His acceptance by his peers was always contingent upon this one lasting negative behavior being extinguished. Garth conquered this and was not only accepted by his housemates, they truly miss him already. It gives me great peace to know, without a doubt, that Garth is in the arms of Jesus. Every human decides what makes life valuable. Garth's quality of life quickly took a turn for the worse and our merciful Savior took him home where he is now in charge of all the Disney music Thank you Garth & all the Caldwell family for the privilege of being part of his life. Peace and Blessings, Marti Yvonne's memory When I think of Garth and all the stories about him, there is one I will forever keep with me and close to my heart..... As most of you know Terry (Garth’s dad) dresses up as Santa Claus every year, and has done this for decades now at our annual Christmas party. While Terry, aka Santa, was passing out gifts, I found Garth walking straight down the middle, back and forth in front of "Santa" and the clients signing Dad repeatedly. It was so funny because he was basically letting everyone know that his dad was a fake! I never laughed so hard in my life.
