As we reach the end of February, we wanted to reflect on how the Las Luciérnagas teachers and students have been honoring Black History Month. Knowing that the LL students are working on so many different aspects of development right now, their teachers found supportive ways to introduce and reflect on the importance of the Black community and their immesurable contributions to our communities throughout history. After the children learned about Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I ...Have A Dream" speech in January, the class started an ongoing kindness chain. They are creating a paper chain with ideas of how to spread kindness including "friendship," "helpfulness," and "you can be who you want to be." LL teachers have also been introducing a new Person of Color each day/week who has influenced our society and world. One of the people of the month is Kid President who the LL students are going to explore at their community play hour! All of the LL teachers and PC staff are working hard to intentionally honor Black History and the vital contributions of People of Color to our society this month and beyond. More updates coming soon about our work and plans as an organization! . . . . #blackhistorymonth #followthecommotion #projectcommotion #blackhistoryeveryday #antiracisteducation #kindnessquotes #equityineducation See more

Weekly connectionsThis week we want to thank @sf_dcyf for their unending support for our staff, students, and organization as a whole. With @sf_dcyf support, we have been able to continue offering our Schools on the Move program throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and even grow connections with SFUSD schools and partners. @sf_dcyf also supports our summer Camp Commotion programming, allowing us to connect deeply with youth over the summer weeks through movement, neighborhood e...xplorations, and nutritional community meals. We are also so grateful for the professional development opportunities @sf_dcyf offers our staff, including the opportunity to take part in the @flourishagenda Healing Centered Engagement Certification. We are so excited to get a chance to work with @flourishagenda and expand our knowledge and toolkit when working with the youth we serve. Thank you @sf_dcyf and @flourishagenda for being parts of our community! . . . . #followthecommotion #projectcommotion #sfdcyf #dcyf #flourishagenda #healingcenteredengagement #professionaldevelopment #communityresources #communitysupport #schoolsonthemove #movementislearning See more
