Right after this, we spent a round improving our shoulder and elbow mobility and visualized the chains as we perform the gorilla punch warm up. Great to be back in the gym!

You know what I love about martial arts? It doesn’t care about my (or your) opinions. It is all about truth. No, I don’t mean the secret of life or how you choose to behave or believe things in life. If I say I can use my nerve touch knockout, but I can’t really do it?... If I say my style of jump spinning ninja kick is the best, but I’ve yet to land it on even 1 resisting opponent? In training/sparring/fighting? If I believe I can stop your takedown but everybody keeps putting me on my back? It forces me to deal w failure. I have 9 pro and Ammy losses on my record and they made me a better martial artist than my 21 wins ever did. I’ve had my face split open in parking lots and carefully choked out people who assaulted me in my own home. It does not even remotely care what I want, think, or don’t want. It is my root to the real. It keeps me grounded and reminds me that for all my decades of hard work, training, my size & strength- I could get my ass handed to me ANY time. It keeps me humble. It knows that even if just last week I won a match or fight or performance, I could just as easily lose tomorrow. Knowing that and still putting myself out there had made me LOVE failure. This is all it promises: The harder you train, the luckier you get. I’m good w that. Forever grateful to my coaches and training partners who brought me along. If you don’t have any connection to truth in your life, come train w me sometime.
