Still rolling right along. Things have been good on some trips and tough on others. Big news the last few weeks has been improving fishing on big bluefin out west. 1.5 day and longer is the range you need to get out there. If you are there on the right school at the right time you will probably have the best bluefin fishing of your life. November is pretty wide open for dates and we are ready to get out there and put the wood to them. Call (760)-583-0025 for charter info

Mid September check. Still turning and burning every day. Things are not quite in full speed mode yet, but yellowfin up to 25lbs are showing up in the counts more consistently and we should see bluefin get back into the counts after the weather calms down this weekend. Also some very good trophy bluefin fishing going on as well. October has a few openings and November week days are wide open. Hope to see everyone on the water.

Good bye August. You have been terrible at times and excellent at times. Fishing and weather have been great to round out the month and to start September. Good Dorado fishing down south, biting yellowfin starting to filter in at 100 miles, along with big bluefin and school size bluefin biting out west. October has openings.

We’ve been to 4 different latitudes and 4 different longitudes the past 2 weeks. We have been able to scrape together some good fishing on our 1.5 and longer trips including limits of bluefin up north and limits of Dorado down south, and we are seeing more then enough fish in our usual stomping grounds. Video is from an overnight this weekend of a school about the size of a football field or two where we got no boils or bites. These fish we are seeing will be given the death penalty sooner or later.

The ocean has been having a severe case of bipolar disorder the past 2 weeks. Some days she has been putting out excellent fishing and flat calm weather and other days she has been downright miserable. Things are about to get very good here shortly. Water down the beach is cleaning and warming up, full day boats are giant schools of yellowfin in overnight range that show improvement in their behavior in the past couple days. We have openings starting Mid September, book now for what will be an epic fall

A few months ago we asked all of you to voice your support for reopening Sportfishing to government agencies, and I believe that it truly made a difference in getting us back open so quickly. Now we are asking you to do the same with much bigger stakes. Please visit this link to sign a petition opposing assembly bill 3030 and help CCA fight this over reaching bill. This is a state assembly bill that attempts to shut down 30% of California’s land and water to fishing and hunting. The wording of this bill is very ambiguous and open ended and allows the state government much broader power to restrict fishing then the MLPA legislation that we have seen already seen the effects of. Thank you!

Couple of great groups and plenty of good times being had. Plenty of shot gunned beers, a few sun burns and full gunny sacks have been had the last few days. We were in much different scenery this weekend than we usually are in and will be back to our regularly scheduled program shortly. Thanks to Kris, Pat, Lei, DC and Michael for putting together some good groups in the past 7 days.

Happy Father’s Day dad. Hope all is well up there.

We have been down the last few days with a mechanical problem (bent prop and steering malfunctioning) but we are very glad to announce that we have successfully sea trialed the boat and are fully operational again. We did cancel a few trips this week and weekend out of abundance of caution but we are glad to be up and running again and should be putting up some open party in the next day or two. We would like to thank Gary and the guys at Wilmington propeller for working overtime to get us out of this jam. In other news sounds like fishing is heating up offshore and a new area of fish popped up at 140 miles with biting mixed bluefin and yellowfin schools as well as wide open yellowtail at the cornado islands. Pictured here is Regular Joe Okimoto with his haul from a recent trip.

Green Light! We have been approved to run starting June 12th. Bluefin fishing is absolutely epic right now and all indications are of a fantastic season awaiting us. Book your charter today

Pride Sportfishing 08.08.2020

We could get the green light any day now and if I was a betting man I would put my money on June 1st. Although we have been ready to fish since mid March we are staying busy doing little projects while we have the time. For when the time comes here is our reopening plan if we were to open right now; 1. It goes without saying if you are sick stay home. 2. Temperature checks for all passengers before boarding 3. All passengers must have a mask 4. Bring ...your own pillow and bedding 5. If you love the smell of bleach (like me)your in luck. If you don’t well I’m sure you understand that sanitization of common areas will be done regularly 6. Maintain social distancing as much as possible 7. Medical questionnaire, don’t worry we’re not going to microchip you or ask for your social security number but we want you to be truthful about any symptoms you might have recently had 8. While we have not received any official guidance on limiting passenger loads there is a real possibility that we will have to do this in order to run at least starting out. The above are just some things that us and all sport boats are going to have to do and while it’s not ideal it beats sitting at the dock. As soon as we are cleared to run the fleet will let you know, trust me we do not want to keep it a secret. See more

We got our first official clarification from a government agency that sport fishing is a phase 3 business. Currently we are waiting on phase 2 businesses to reopen which should happen any day now. Fingers crossed

We are still booking charters for the upcoming 2020 season. As of right now, nobody especially me as a sport boat operator, knows when things are going to go back to normal. If your trip must be canceled due to a public health order we can push the trip to a later date or fully refund your deposit. In other news, private boaters and the commercial boats are still seeing good volume of biting bluefin. We are finished with our major maintenance for the year... and are eagerly awaiting the go ahead to start fishing. Some of the work we were able to accomplish this year; New sonar, new running gear and cutless bearings, new rudder, new rudder table, bearings arm and ram. Drip less shaft and rudder packing, re-fiberglassed bait tank inside and out, new bunk curtains, new a/c, new grill, new galley flooring ,reinforced half of the deck, reglassed 1/2 the boat from the chine down, and painted the entire boat from top to bottom. Now we need to make some money so we can do more work next year. See more

I would like to thank all the people who made 2019 a memorable one and wish all those people a happy and prosperous 2020. First of all to my crew for making everything possible, all the new friends and familiar faces that joined us on our adventures in the Pacific this year, and Mother Nature for providing us with some of the best (and worst) fishing that I can remember. See you all in 2020!
