Foster homes needed for Lilo and Leah. These two little seniors we’re taken to the vet to be euthanized because the owner didn’t want to take care of them any longer and their medical needs. The vet refused to do rights and asked the owner to release them to the clinic, which the owner did. The vet tech reached out to one of our volunteers to see if she could help find them a rescue. We said we’d help, but now we have to find a foster and still get all their medical care tak...en care of. Lilo is the male and he has a little wobbly gait, probably arthritis or old spinal issue. He’s about 6 lbs. Leah has a few mammary tumors and no lower jaw and she’s about 4.5 lbs. They won’t need much, but a loving foster home, comfy bed, yummy food and some outside time to potty. Happy Hippie or should we call him Phillip Diller after Phyllis Diller Hippie has been doing great a moth after his double hip surgery. He’s walking on 3 legs so we may end up needing to amputate his leg that isn’t working well. We’ll know more after he starts his physical therapy next week. He’s such a good boy and is the biggest lovebug. Good news update on Champ. Dr. Slaton said that his break in his elbow has pretty much healed with the splint care while he was in the shelter for that month while he was on confiscation hold. Re-breaking it would end up being more in him and could end up doing more damage so he’ll just have a bit of a wonky leg once he’s done with this splint care, but it’s better than surgery. Champ doesn’t make a big deal out of the splint. He’s one wild child and gets around great with it.... We will do weekly splint changes and take X-rays in 4 wks to see how it’s going. We have not so good news about baby Henry Henry is still in the hospital and still not eating on his on his own. He’s being forced fed by syringe and on IV glucose, but his sugar levels still fluctuate when he’s off the IV. His acid bile test came back negative so that means he doesn’t have a liver shunt. However, that means there is another serious mediation condition that has to be figured out. This morning our vet was able get a better reading of his heart and unfortunate...ly it shows he has a heart murmur A heart murmur in a puppy this tiny is congenital and that means that he cannot live without surgery, if that is even a viable option. We are having the cardiologist come out to to an echocardiogram today to see if he has PDA, which is a hole in his heart. We’ve had this happen a few times before in puppies, one successful surgery and one puppy was too young and ended up not strong enough for surgery so we had to let her go and that is my fear is what will happen to Henry. I’m so sad for our little guy, but we aren’t giving up until we have a complete cardiologist report. Henry’s vet bill is now over $4,700 and we’ve only raised about $800 so we have a long way to go to cover this bill and echocardiogram. How cute is this Baby Lulu lost her first baby tooth and it’s a little Lulu still continues to battle with her autoimmune disease, which has her back and forth in the hospital every few weeks. However, we feel we have found a protocol that is working to prevent her getting upper respiratory issues in her nasal cavity. It’s keeping her on prednisone along with doing nebulizing when she is stuffy. Her foster mommy is very diligent with watching for any s sniffles and immedi...ately ups her steroids. We don’t know how long it will take for her to outgrow this issue. She’s 4 mos old now and not as big as she should be either. We think some idiots were inbreeding for $ She’s the cutest thing ever and worth every penny we’ve spent on her.
