Scripps Health President and CEO Chris Van Gorder administers a COVID-19 vaccine to Michael Hendrix of Fallbrook at a clinic for Scripps patients in La Jolla. Van Gorder is a certified emergency medical technician and was recently certified to administer COVID vaccines, the latest example of his hands-on approach to health care. He also is a volunteer with the Red Cross and has taken part in emergency response missions to provide medical care in the aftermath of natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina and the catastrophic Haiti earthquake.
