For Construction Safety Week, we sent home some of the at-home activities to bring awareness of why it's important for our team to return home safely. Kristi Nguyen mentioned that her family was her reason. What is yours?

2020 has been crazy. Things are changing every day and it is hard to keep up. One thing that remains constant during this unusual time is the need for construction workers who put quality, safety and productivity at the forefront of their minds. Your efforts and hard work remain constant. You continue to work together to create buildings which service our communities in times when communities feel very different from what we are used to. You come to work during unprecede...nted times and put in quality work in a safe and efficient manner. Your efforts remain constant when nothing else does and for that, we thank you. Thank you from our Safety and Quality Teams - Rebecca Klein, Richard Butch Buxton, Ed Felder, Beatrice Denning, Sal Oliva, Litza Rodriguez, Patrick Nakamichi, Dan Medaris, Raul Flores, Brian Mayer, Charlie McCall, James Napoli, Konrad Pasternak, Scott Riepe and Randy Wurth

While we bring awareness to Construction Safety and Quality Week, we also want to recognize that wildfire season is in full force. Large active fires are still burning across the west coast, and it is important to take precaution in protecting the health of you and your loved ones. You can visit airnow.gov or cdc.gov for resources on how to reduce exposure to wildfire smoke. You can also download the AirNow app to monitor the current air quality conditions in your area which can help in planning your daily activities and reducing exposure.

Congrats to our MIRO project team on the topping out of this twin tower project in San Jose. Nearly three years after breaking ground, San Jose’s tallest project tops out finalizing the concrete phase. The event for this high-rise, mixed-use residential project was held on the 28th floor of one of the two towers, and we are grateful to everyone who made it possible to reach the top. Check out a sneak peek of the video from Suffolk celebrating this major milestone! A special thanks to our PPM decking crew that worked tirelessly to layout two decks within the final week. Cheers to topping out!

1 De Haro in San Francisco is reviving the use of wood with its cross laminated timber (CLT). Popular in Europe, CLT is an emerging building material engineered from seven layers of black spruce lumber grown in Quebec. Each layer is glued and then laminated together to create panels with the structural capacity and strength of concrete. Upon completion, 1 De Haro anticipates LEED Gold Certification. It will be the rst mass timber building in San Francisco to use CLT, and the... first multi-story CLT building of its type in California. Pan-Pacific Mechanical is responsible for the plumbing scope on 1 De Haro including domestic hot & cold, sanitary waste & vent, storm drain, irrigation, gas and all related equipment. Images show the first of hundreds of panels that will be an integral part of the structural frame of the four-story, 60-foot-high commercial building.
