Bringing the Pomona Public Library into the 21st century. The process of upgrading to RFID tagging the collection has begun. Funding for the rental of the conve...rsion cart and the first 10 thousand RFID tags was provided by the Pomona Public Library Foundation. I posted last month on this when the Foundation delivered the check. RFID tagging will allow the library to order pre-tagged books, improve collection security and, eventual, facilitate modern self checkout technology. All this improves efficiency so Library staff can better focus on patron services. It will also save some money on new security scanning equipment as the Library and the Foundation roll out a more welcoming, modern, patron experience. See more

The Pomona Public Library introduces the In-N-Out Cover to Cover reading club. This program is for children ages 4-12. Sign-ups are in person Mondays & Thursday...s 12 p.m.-5 p.m. or by phone 909-620-2043 or via email [email protected]. Only one sign-up per child. Participants must read 5 books and have a parent/guardian signature on their reading log in order to receive a free burger certificate. Child must be present in order to receive certificate. PRINTING TO-GO! In response to requests from the community, Pomona Public Library has launched a new service at the door PPL Printing To-Go! Patrons can email... their documents (school assignment, rental application, job resume, etc.) to [email protected] and pick up the prints anytime between 12pm and 5pm on Mondays & Thursdays. The Pomona Public Library Foundation in cooperation with the Pomona Unified School District, the Pomona Public Library, and Tutorfly is sponsoring afternoon online tutoring for elementary school kids served by the District and the Library.

The Pomona Public Library Foundation just purchased a new outdoor item return bin for our Library. This new return bin will allow library patrons to return both... books and fragile items such as DVDs and CDs without needing to enter the library. The current return bins only support the return of books. Another step in bringing our library into the 21st century. There will be more on this once the bin arrives in a couple of weeks and is installed. See more
