Congratulations to @dylanvanderveer for his wire to wire win at the Memorial Amateur hosted in Carmichael, CA this past Memorial Day weekend! Dylan posted rounds of 66-68-70 (-12) en route to a four shot victory! - This guy just gets better and better! The @stmugolf team member has been making some noise these past couple weeks. Prior to this win, he qualified for the California Amateur that will take place at the end of June! - This video was taken from our lesson just a... couple days before the event. What a gorgeous swing! This is connection at it’s finest. We worked to make sure his right elbow stayed lower at the top of his swing. This keeps his right elbow in front of the right side of his body throughout his swing. To help our players understand and feel this, we say the trail elbow should always be in front of the seam on their shirt in the backswing and in front of their trail pocket on the downswing and through impact! This ensures his hands remain in front of his body’s center, never losing control of the club face and truly using the rotation of his body to square the face at impact! - This was one of the most impressive sessions we have ever witnessed by one of our players. Pretty cool how he looked at Adam dead in the eyes and said, Coach, all I want to do is win...I’m ready! Well D, you were a man of your word and let’s keep the pedal down! It’s important that we familiarize ourselves with the rule changes in 2019! - It was just yesterday in a playing lesson, where our student faced a 6 foot downhill putt...it was late afternoon and the greens were rolling a 12 on the stimp... there were many spike marks from the day’s foot traffic. Having to hit that 6 foot putt with 1 foot of pace would normally leave uncertainty in the mind of a player. Uncertainty, knowing this ball could bounce all over the place, especiall...y at the pace we needed to hit it. - It then hit us, that we no longer needed to hit it and pray !! @tigerwoods explaining one of the putting setups’ key fundamentals. Having our eyes on top of the ball promotes better aim and feel as the golfer can easily trace their eyes back and forth down their intended line. - Tiger points out in this video why most golfers don’t get their eyes over the ball properly and that’s from sitting back in their heels too much. At Porzak Golf we have been able to accomplish the proper setup repeatably, by telling golfers to keep their hip joi...nt directly over their ankle. In doing so the weight in the feet moves off the heel more toward the front of the foot. This is one of the most common fundamentals we work on with our players. Being on the balls of the feet activates your core and keeps you connected through the putting stroke. We are excited to get back after it with @csusmgolf team member @ryan_bisharat .
