Portola-Library Plumas-County 14.12.2020

FREE DRAWING LESSONS will be offered by Linda Hale through Plumas County Library beginning here on FB since we are not permitted to officially begin the class live until we open. There are three exercises everyone should do before it begins while waiting. The first, if you have not received an email about this, is to draw two pre-instruction drawings, one of a tennis shoe with loose laces and one of a corner of a room with furnishings. These you will keep to compare your pro...gress at the end of the classes. The next exercise is line drawing and fun to do. It will teach you about line for background when we go live. (It will be about five minutes drawing time but a bit longer online research) It is simple and is to practice making different marks and lines on paper. In Google, look up Pablo Picasso’s Françoise with a Bow in Her Hair (shown here) and draw long flowing lines without picking up your pencil often so the lines look a little like his but they do not need to look like the subject. Then look up Vincent van Gogh’s The Starry Night pen drawing (shown here) and draw curved lines and short dashes like in it. Then look up Juan Gris’ lines in Le Pain or The Bread (shown here). You will draw dark (press harder with the pencil) and light (press lightly), thick (hold pencil lower to the paper so the graphite smears across it). The third yet also simple exercise will be posted here and/or emailed to you soon.
