Thank you to all of my amazing clients!
Happy Anniversary to the Royals!
I miss weddings. Being a wedding photographer is more than just a job to me. But health is more important. Your health, the health of your family and friends, and also my health, the health of my family, friends, clients, community. I would love to photograph your elopement whether this year or next. At this time I'm only accepting new bookings for larger weddings in 2021 or later.... https://www.sfchronicle.com//They-defied-health-rules-for-
Good reminder to be careful.
Happy Father's Day!
Today we celebrate Loving Day, the anniversary of the Supreme Court decision that struck down laws banning interracial marriage. Mildred Jeter and Richard Loving married in 1958 and it took almost a decade for their marriage to be recognized in all 50 states, including their hometown in Virginia. Without the Lovings, Polka Photos would not exist. We are redoing our website and updating our portfolio with recent weddings. Part of this process has been defining the core values of Polka Photos.
"Over the past week, Black photographers and photographers of color have experienced an unprecedented amount of bigotry, racism, and emotional labor within the community surrounding the death of George Floyd and other racially-charged incidences. It is time for photography industry leaders and corporations to use their platforms to speak out against the racism Black and minority photographers are facing within the industry. This includes mandatory diversity, inclusion, and eq...uitable sensitivity training for photography vendors, executives, and leadership staff. And it also includes ambassadors, who are often the faces of photography companies. To begin, we ask that you start with these initiatives: Racial-bias training Creating safe spaces for difficult discourse and conversations Identifying the areas of bias within the industry and proactively working to change them Creating anti-racism policies for all social media platforms Making all of these policies public knowledge and defending them accordingly Gestures are not enough. Global actions are required now. It is only through facing systemic racism together that we can be the change that we want to see in the world. The time is now." Dr. Tomayia Colvin
This gave me all the feels. An Office-inspired engagement followed by a wedding with the cast!
Happy Mother's Day Mamas!
May the 4th be with you! Shout out to all the librarians! Especially to Lauren and the Ovitt Family Community Library. This photo is from their May the Force Be With You day last year. If you're in the Ontario area, check out their great events!
If you’re bringing a llama I want to be your wedding photographer!
If you’re looking for a venue outside Chicago, the Shores of Turtle Creek is a beautiful place to host your ceremony and reception.
I love proposal stories! Boyfriend called his girlfriend at work to ask if she got the letter. When she asked what letter, he told her to look outside. All the women in the office: Awwwww Photo copyright Joyce Mendoza Burin who posted about her co-worker’s engagement. Shared with permission.
Happy Valentine’s Day! Share the love!!!
