This is one interpretation from a friend of mine: "The impression I got was that it's about living on after death. What I can't decide is whether it's saying you live on in the memories of those who knew you... or you live on as a result of the body breaking down and returning to the elements and thus becoming the (kind of) compost from which new life arises so it all goes full circle... or you live on in a more literally religious/spiritual way with the soul soaring free after death. I think the film could be interpreted as saying any of those things - if not all three - or it might be a lovely memorial to someone you've lost.
