A study with 211 individuals suffering from chronic alcohol dependence showed that 65.8% of those that experienced ketamine-assisted psychotherapy maintained abstinence at the 12 month follow-up (p. 243). "In the human brain, MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy, triggers the release of the neurotransmitter serotonin, causing feelings of happiness and closeness to others. The California two-spot octopus (Octopus bimaculoides) has a serotonin transport system similar to that of humans.
