Planting with Farmer Benito this morning! We planted zucchini and cucumber today. We know that when children plant and harvest their own food they are more likely to eat it!
Shaving cream fun!! This is always a fun sensory activity that all our preschoolers enjoy! Not only is it fun to squish, it has a nice clean smell. It’s a great way to practice letter, number, and name writing too! (It’s also excellent at cleaning tables and high chair trays). Easy clean up too!
I’m proud to be an American where at least I know I’m free. And I won’t forget the men (and women) who died, who gave that right to me. - Lee Greenwood. Thank you to all of service people and an extra special to those in our preschool families that are currently or formerly served our country.
A little outside balance beam/obstacle course fun!
Ms. Kelli, Ms. Kim, and Ms. Lisa are rocking their matching shirts to remind everyone to just breathe! It has been our mantra for the last 15 months and even when we have crazy days (and there are lots of those) we find something to laugh about and breathe!! We wish you all a fabulous weekend! See you Tuesday!
Floam is a fun and popular activity at preschool. It is an alternative to playdough and can be reused several times. It is a fun sensory activity. Often times little toys can be hidden inside as well!
The Dinosaur March! Gross motor skill development is so important for preschoolers. It helps them with coordination, balance, and body awareness. It’s also helps get our wiggles out!!
There are many ways to learn how to spell (and eventually write) our name. Here our 4 year olds are working on building their name with their pencil puzzle. This builds fine motor skills as well as pre-reading (working left to right) in addition to letter recognition.
Our 2 year olds are loving are revamped toddler play yard! This play area is just for our littlest learners. Gus the Caterpillar is so fun to crawl through (and over). There are multiple stations for 2 children to take a themed bucket to build and create their own play. Finally, a small 2 person teeter totter that can be flipped over and crawled under. These children will also play in the big play yards but this gives them a special small safe place for them to enjoy!
Look at this excellent block building! This shows problem solving (how should they be stacked to not fall?), imagination, math (height), and of course self esteem!
Reading with our children is one of the most important things we can do as early educators and parents. It helps them learn vocabulary, language, numbera and math concepts, colors, shapes, animals, opposites, manners, and all kinds of useful information about how the world works. When we see children reading to their friends, we know we are doing something right!
Farmer Benito taught us about the importance of bugs and worms in the garden. The worms loosen, mix, and oxygenate the soil leaving space for water to be drained away from the surface and stored in the soil. Our children had fun sifting the soil to see how many bugs and worms they could find! Lucky for us, we have great soil for growing! @perennialwisdom.life
Wishing all of you a Happy Thanksgiving! We are beyond grateful to have your families in our lives. We get so much joy from spending our days seeing your children smile and hear them giggle. Our gratitude is being measure!
Parents, Please join our new facebook private group! Here I will be posting videos, photos and ideas to work with your children. It is also an opportunity for you to meet other parents.
A great visual on the importance of hand washing!
