Long wait times for veterinary appointments across the country are taking a toll on the owners and their pet's care. At this point in the pandemic, everyone has experienced some level of frustrating change to the daily life they previously took for granted. The world certainly seems more full of uncertainty than it did last year at this time, and for pet owners that uncertainty extends to caring for a sick pet. We would like to take the time to give you a little information....Continue reading

Hello Facebook Family...let me tell you a little story about a cat named Trio, he was an orange beauty with only 3 legs. He came to us in February 2014. He was found by a good samaritan and after days of posting on FB no one came forward to claim this old man. He came to us very malnourished, he weighed only 4 pounds and his mouth was in very bad shape. Bev Williams stepped in to cover the initial exam and blood work. The clinic staff donated their own time. The clinic itself... donated medication, hospitalization and food. But what he really needed was dental work. This is where the amazing community stepped in! People started to ask if they could donate! So we set up a Trio Fund to cover the major medical expenses he would incur. We had more than enough to cover his needs in less than 2 days! We decided that we would "adopt" Trio into our clinic family. Kris Avery kept everyone updated on FB with daily posts. People came by to meet and visit with Trio! He became a local celeb! He quickly put on weight after his dental and settled in nicely to his role at PVPC. He was friendly, outgoing and loved all the attention. We set him up with his own little condo to come and go as he pleased within the hospital. He spent a lot of time in the office with Kris. Sadly on March 11, 2014 we discovered a tumor in his mouth that wasn't there at the dental. It was a very aggressive cancer and we decided that we would keep him comfortable and give him the best we could until it was his time. The fund allowed us to keep giving him the best hospice care so that he could live out his life with as little pain as possible. Towards the end, Kris took him home to keep him comfortable and surround him with lots of love from humans and fur babies alike. On April 4 he left this world in better shape than we he found it. He brought a community together. He reminded us to be kind and generous. In his memory we want to resurrect the Trio Fund for less fortunate pets like Trio. The clinic is going to start the funding off with donating one dollar for every new puppy and kitten exam. If you would like to donate there are several ways you can do that. The donations will only be accepted through the clinic. Please call for more information.

Don't be fooled by the cooler days and snow on the ground. We have had our first Rattlesnake bite this month. They come out on warm days or your dog can disturb their nest. Please vaccinate! In our experience the vaccine has has helped to lessen the reaction to the bite. We also are scheduling the Rattlesnake Avoidance Classes again this spring. We will post more information when available.

Regular exercise also helps your dog maintain a healthy weight and heart, while increasing muscle mass. Allow your pet to play a part in your daily exercise by going on a walk or short run!
