Our hearts are heavy, filled with memories of David Carr, who passed away unexpectedly a year ago today. Dave was a long-time board member and president of Playwrights Project and a dear personal friend. An artist with a spreadsheet, yet he was so much more than a numbers guy. He was truly inspirational as a leader, entrepreneur, mentor, and a model human being. Earlier this year we honored Dave’s memory by appointing him Board Emeritus. We continually aspire to reflect Dave’s extraordinary traits in our organizational ethos -- kindness, practicality, good humor, and hopeful determination. Our thoughts are with Dave’s family, and we are grateful for his lasting impact on Playwrights Project.

On #InternationalArtistsDay we celebrate the skill, creativity, and boldness of our playwrights and all of the other artists, onstage and behind the scenes, who bring the magic of playwriting from the page to the stage (or currently, a screen near you!).
