One of Playa Venice Sunrise signature programs and highlight of the year - SCHOLARSHIPS! We proudly awarded 14 scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each to some amazing high school seniors. The special meeting was held virtually on 5/26. Congratulations to Jake Rogers, Joshua Sims, Franklyn Moreshead, Fatma Ali, Catherine Galanti, Kayla Thompson, Elizabeth Villafana, Steven Delgado, Valentina Vicarel, Alonna Deshotel, Katherine Herrera, Jocelyn Lopez, Stephan Baum-Harvey and Yazmin Romero. Thank you to Rotarian Gail Goldstein for your leadership of such an inspiring and important program!

As the world is beginning to open back up, so is our Playa Venice Sunrise Rotary Club! Don Culton Memorial Bike Ride at the beach, virtual scavenger hunt and District Conference Pub Crawl are a few recent activities for some fun and fellowship!

In addition to the club being a major sponsor of the 2021 Teacher Eddy Awards, Playa Venice Sunrise Rotarians delivered gift bags to the honorees. The 25 teacher honorees started their special day receiving their swag bags and ended the day being presented a Crystal Eddy Award at the virtual event celebrating All Star Teachers. CONGRATULATIONS again to the 2021 Honorees!

Playa Venice Sunrise Rotary Club congratulates the DeCou family on their good fortune - last ticket drawn winning them $10,000! A lovely reception was held for the Reverse Drawing fundraiser and PVSR members enjoyed an afternoon of fellowship after months of virtual gatherings. The fundraiser netted $24,000 for the Foundation. We thank all those that purchased tickets in support of our programs and projects!

Playa Venice Sunrise Rotary holiday Adopt-A-Family is one of the signature programs of the club and a highlight for the members! 12 families, 6 from Mar Vista Family Center and 6 from Boys & Girls Club of Venice during December 2020 amidst a pandemic. The members showered the families with Christmas trees, gifts, love and kindness. Gifts delivered included a lawn mower, refrigerator, beds, couch, electric guitars, chromebooks, bicycles, helmets, tricycles, Nintendo, razor scooter, toys, dolls, shoes, jackets, clothing, gift cards and groceries. There is no greater gift than the gift of giving and Playa Venice Rotarians made a huge difference in the lives of these families in need! #playavenicerocks

Congratulations to the Playa Venice Sunrise Rotary Club for a successful Teacher Mini-Grant program! 75 grants totalling $17,048 were awarded to 22 schools!

Happy Thanksgiving from Playa Venjce Sunrise! $1765 presented to Tracey Thompson-Busa for Venice Boys & Girls Club and $2125 to Principal Gabe Griego, Venice High School for Jackets of Excellence program. Weekly food distribution at Mar Vista Family Center. Thank you to Rotarian Lucia Diaz and Executive Director of the center who makes sure the people of this community do not go hungry! #playavenicecares

Playa Venice Sunrise Rotarians sharing in fellowship and exercise on a beautiful clear, crisp and sunny Saturday morning bike ride along the beach! From Venice to Will Rogers State Beach, coffee , juice, fruit and breakfast burritos - great way to start the day.

Another great Supper Club meeting! This month was Gail & Rob’s fabulous taco skillet. Playa Venice Sunrise Rotarians have learned how to be creative and enjoy the club fellowship in the midst of these crazy pandemic times. Next up - Chef Tracey on Thursday, December 3, join us!
