Today I had to let a customer know that we will not be able to correct the paint on his new to him Porsche 911 because whoever worked on it before obviously did... not know what they where doing. This is what can happens when you hire someone that is not a professional and . They went over the whole car with a rotary leaving buffer trails everywhere and worked down the clear coat so much, that this car won’t be able to be buffed to many more times. Average factory clear coat is between 4-6 mils thick, with the clear coat being 1-2.2 mils on average. I took measurements of the paint, and almost the whole car is around 2.5 total mils, so you can imagine that the clear coat is about ready to fail. There was an area that was reading even under 2 mils. We are going to remove the buffer trails for now, but he will have to live with this car having defects in it because we aren’t able to go after them without comprising the paint even more. He will probably be getting full body paint protection film in the future after he gets some quotes for a full repaint. Never forget! Today we remember and honor the victims, survivors and heroes on that tragic day in 2001. I remember exactly where I was at that day. I was enlist...ed in the Navy and our Ship the USS Austin LPD-4 had just gone into the shipyard post deployment and I was working underneath the boiler in the #1 engine room when the Skipper came over the intercom to explain the Twin Towers had been attacked. Life changed for all of us on that day. Our ship went into a Port/Starboard Duty section for what seems months. The best thing that came out of that was how United as a nation that made us during that time. I hope and pray that we can come together as a country and Unite like we did during that time amongst everything that is going on in our Country now. God Bless the USA See more
