Pismo is calling.

We are situated on a 23 mile long beach. You could run a marathon on this beach. Nobody captures it so beautifully as Vivian Krug Cotton.

When a bird thinks me trying to walk through deep sand is uproariously funny, I do it anyway. Some activities are their own reward. This one can be found a few steps from our front door. Definitely worth it!

We have so much fun watching all the eggs they lay on our milkweed hatching into caterpillars munching their way all through the cycle of metamorphosis.

Do you remember the skating rink in Pismo? And that it was built over an old swimming pool? This is a 1985 pic of Ural Foresee showing off the old pumping equipment beneath the floor, after he had turned the skating rink into shops.

Effie, On behalf of my husband and family, we wanted to thank you for the lovely stay in Pismo. Our grandsons had prayed for a place with stairs ... well, they got it. They were so excited! We all loved being able to basically walk out the door and be on the beach. A pleasant surprise was the sound of the frogs each night; we felt like we were in a Disney movie. Although, I have to say, my grandsons were a little worried at first. : ) We appreciated the little touches throug...h your text messages about the surf, crowds, and even the caterpillars. It was nice not having to worry about our grandsons making too much noise while playing or even walking around the condo for fear they would disturb the people above or below us. We also loved not having to worry about parking. We had a wonderful stay. We are looking forward to next year. Sincerely, Mary B...

Down here next to the estuary working outside the rentals, and realized I was seeing a lot of Monarchs. I strolled over to our milkweed just to see what's up. Hungry caterpillars.
