This past Saturday we competed in our first USA Swimming meet since February of 2020. A big thank you to Rose Bowl Aquatics - Swim Team, their Coaches Jeff, Kristine, and James, meet admin Bettie Williams, and all of the Rose Bowl athletes, staff and volunteers for welcoming us in. It’s no easy task running a meet with several hundred athletes in a safe environment. But Rose Bowl did it well, going above and beyond in keeping all of the participants healthy and safe. Als...o big thank you to Elaine Lockhart for being out team area Safety Marshall and to all the parents and family members that made the trip out to Pasadena on Saturday. Highlights of the day: Aden Ward with a 13 second improvement in the 200 free and 7 second drop in 100 back, both close to Sumer JOs. Mia Meyer with a pair of 3 second drops in both the 100 back just Off JOs and the 100 IM. Jayden Zendejas drops 8 in the 100 back and 10 in the 100 free while Alaina Vega swam two best times in the 100 free and 100 breast. Annasten Galvan dropped over a second in the 50 breast and is close to JOs. The biggest improvement of the day came from John Webster, dropping 8 plus seconds in the 50 free and over 9 in the 100 free. Calum Webster took 6 seconds off his 50 free best and earned a red time his first time swimming the 100 free. Aiden Stanton’s 28 second 50 free was a huge improvement. Samuel Contreras took over 2 seconds off in the 50 back and Maryn Ruiz dropped over 5 seconds in the 50 free. Our High school swimmers had a busy week, most having a rescheduled duel meet Friday before the RB meet. Franco Calixto swam life time bests in both the 200 IM and 50 free. Kay Pivonka, Brianna Vasquez, Reece Speer, Emilea Lockhart and Markina Evdokimoff had solid in season race swims as they prepare for their High School League Champs this week and then on to CIF.
