Manchester Ridge Vineyard 07.11.2020

The only thing better than being at Manchester Ridge is being there in the Spring. Yesterday was cool, breezy and very beautiful. Jaime reports that over 4" of rain washed our favorite vineyard in this last series of storms. As you can see, we are not seeing any bloom yet and no other ill effects have been noted. We're looking forward to a terrific year.

A ballerina is the epitome of grace, elegance and power. No surprise that the Manchester Ridge Pinot Noir produced by our friends at Bailarin exhibits all of these characteristics. Its also no accident that it's William Weese guiding our fruit to this amazing presentation. Cheers! https://www.bailarincellars.com/

Another of our winery partners is Trail Marker Wine Co. They produce wonderful vintages of both our Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Small quantites, huge flavors! I'm especially fond of the way they show off our Chardonnay, bright acidity, brilliant with dungeness crab! Please visit their website: https://trailmarkerwineco.com/ Cheers!

There's something special about high altitude Chardonnay. Our friends at Woodenhead Vintners have proven to be masters at showcasing this fruit. Their current release, the 2016 in their words "Aromatics of honeysuckle, white flowers, pineapple and citrus. The palate is lemony, with a slice of lime-kumquat rind character, tropical fruit, soft tannins and a hint of vanilla and butterscotch. A light treatment of French oak with perfect acidity. A nice rounded and long finish. Well balanced and delicious! Would pair well with any seafood drenched with butter or a cream bechamel. Enjoy!" Check them out at https://woodenheadwine.com/

Tom Eddy has been with us almost from the start. His work with our Pinot Noir has been outstanding. We were pleased to find a bottle of his 2014 release on the rack and poured it with our favorite pasta dish: fettucine with pancetta, parmesan, fresh arugula from the garden plus a sinful splash of whipping cream. OMG! Give the Tom Eddy crew a look at https://tomeddywinery.com/

Brick and Mortar Wines is another one of our amazing wine partners. Matthew Iaconis creates incredible wines but of course we're especially fond of the magic he makes with our fruit. Some days we're completely blown away by the Chardonnay "candied lemon peel and crushed stones with notes of lily, jasmine, macadamia nut and honeysuckle." But then again the Pinot Noir has "flavors of lush blackberry and plum, cherry blossom and cedar, highlight juniper, bay laurel and woodsiness." Thanks Matt for all you do!

Today we'd like to shine a light on Poe Wines! Samantha Sheehan is very talented and has displayed our fruit brilliantly. Her current bubbly release is fabulous; "2014 POE Manchester Ridge Blanc de Blanc The 2014 Poe Blanc de Blancs perfectly balances a rich, brioche texture with bright, energetic acidity. Apple skin, ocean breeze, lemon zest, and a strikethrough of yeasty goodness." Indeed! https://www.poewines.com/

Today we'd like to shine light on Alquimista Cellars. Their 2017 Manchester Ridge Pinot and Chardonnay both scored 94 points at this years American Fine Wine Competition. Greg and Patrick have been on board with us for many years, their wine intelligence is unmatched. Cheers!

We'd like to give a shout out to Auteur Wines. Their 2017 Manchester Ridge Pinot Noir is racking up top ratings from many publications. They've been a great friend and have done a great job of highlighting both out Pinot and Chardonnay.
