Today, May 17th, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) announced that California’s mask mandate will remain in effect until June 15th. What does th...at mean for you? If You’re Fully Vaccinated Face coverings are not required outdoors except when attending crowded outdoor events, such as live performances, parades, fairs, festivals, sports events, or other similar settings. In indoor settings outside of your home, including public transportation, face coverings continue to be required regardless of vaccination status. As defined in the CDPH Fully Vaccinated Persons Guidance, fully vaccinated people can: o Visit, without wearing masks or physical distancing, with other fully vaccinated people in indoor or outdoor settings; and o Visit, without wearing masks or physical distancing, with unvaccinated people (including children) from a single household who are at low risk for severe COVID-19 disease in indoor and outdoor settings. If You’re Unvaccinated Face coverings are required outdoors any time physical distancing cannot be maintained, including when attending crowded outdoor events, such as live performances, parades, fairs, festivals, sports events, or other similar settings. In indoor settings outside of your home, including public transportation, face coverings continue to be required regardless of vaccination status. Dear customers: We know that the mask rules are confusing, which is why we reached out to the Nevada County Environmental Health Department and this is the response we received: The CDC guidance on face coverings that came out today doesn’t apply yet in Nevada County. We are required to follow the guidance of the CA Department of Public Health (CDPH). The current face covering guidance from CDPH can be found here and it requires face coverings indoors regardless of vaccinati...on status. In the past, CDPH usually will follow the lead of the CDC on most guidance issues, though they can make modification or changes to be more restrictive. Generally that happens a week or two after the CDC releases guidance, giving CDPH an opportunity for its team to review the guidance and determine what changes to make in the guidance for the state. We expect changes to be made in the coming weeks, but for now, we still require masks to be worn inside of our establishment, unless you are actively sitting and eating. PLEASE continue to be civil and courteous to our employees who are following the directions of EH. These rules are NOT their personal opinion, they are just following the rules of EH. Thank you!!
