Join with other volunteers on May 15 to help reduce wildfire risk and restore forest health in the area near PID’s Treatment Plant and Magalia Reservoir. The event is sponsored by Butte County Fire Safe Council and the US Forest Service. Volunteers will be helping with trash pickup and pulling up invasive Scotch Broom from the McNab Cypress Grove area from 9 am to 3 pm; volunteers don’t need to stay all day. All volunteers will receive a commemorative t-shirt but must email their RSVP and t-shirt size by 3 pm on May 14 to: [email protected]. Park in the dirt lot near the intersection of Skyway and Coutolenc Road. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring food and water for the day. Volunteers should bring tools and gloves but some may be available; trash bags will be provided. Questions? Call Butte County Fire Safe Council at 530.877.0984.

The incoming storm may be windy as well as chilly--the Town of Paradise has some good advice for all of us for the next few days:

Testing of water within PID’s service area provides great news: We continue on the order of taking 15 to 25 samples a week out of the distribution system and have continued to find nothing but clean water, Engineer Sami Kader, with WaterWorks Engineers, told PID’s board at their December meeting. PID’s Water Treatment Plant continues to distribute the same great water quality it was pre-fire; testing of water in the distribution system is ongoing through the district’s Water Quality Assurance Monitoring program. The water quality advisory has been lifted for all surviving structures in PID as well as the new builds and rebuilds. A water advisory remains in place for those vacant, temporary housing and pre-build lots, including those with interim water service.

Cold frosty weatherand perhaps even some snow!is headed our way this week. Take a quick outdoor tour of your home to make sure your faucets and outdoor pipes are protected from the cold. And don’t forget your backflow devicePID provided frost covers with each device upon installation, but it’s important to check that the cover is still in place to protect your incoming water pipes!

In case of evacuation turn sprinklers off, connect hoses, leave buckets of water. Due to loss of our 3-million gallon B reservoir in the 2018 Camp Fire, Paradise does not have the storage capacity to support the extra demand for water that may result from leaving water running during an evacuation. Stay safe and thank you for your cooperation.
